There's a"Backup and Sync" app you can use to sync desktop files with Google Photos as well

My bad, I should have clarified. I just use OneDrive to back up to my computer because it's built in to Windows. I realized that Google Photos could do that, I just don't use it for that. I love the Auto Awesome photos from Google Photos so that's a big part of why I use both.

Isn't there some kind of limit as to what's getting backed up tho? Only a certain size of the photos are unlimited?

From Pixel, it's original quality for photos and videos taken from Pixel. For everything else it's high quality (16MP) and videos are compressed. In any case it's unlimited but even highly quality is great in 99% of the scenarios.

Is it better than OneDrive? Thinking of. Switching to Google Photos or just using both. Am I able to move everything in my OneDrive over to Google Photos since everything is unlimited there?

Not sure. I never used One Drive. I am pretty much all-in on the Google ecosystem.
