Global Phone?

Thanks. I'm curious, say, it can be done successfully. Then what is the chance of not being able to revert Rezound back to CDMA and ruining it for use in the US on VZW? Any thoughts on this?

Shouldn't have any risk. Just switch it back.

I was able to do this no problems. Just put the verizon 4GLTE sim back in, change it back to cdma mode and you are good to go.

Cool!! So what's the actual trick to unlock the phone? I also wonder if somebody may have a non-US SIM lying somewhere to stick it in and see what happens.

But, above all, it seems bizarre to me that VZW keeps denying this Rezound's capability. Why are they doing that? I just don't get it.

Well, for me, all i did was put in the tmo or att sim, boot up, and change to "gsm mode" using the "lte onoff" app.

So the "GSM Mode" appeared as an option in "lte onoff" once you put in the AT&T SIM? (We don't even have LTE in this area yet.)

Also, I seem to remember seeing in another forum that, after successfully locking into a GSM network, after awhile, a phone spontaneously lost the network connection. Have you noticed anything like that?

you can use the "lte onoff app" regardless of whether or not you have lte. the gsm mode option is always there, it just won't do anything with the verizon 4glte sim. i tried to run the phone for almost 2 hours on tmo sim, no disconnects or drops, and was still able to make a call. i saw on xda that someone mentioned that after a few minutes, he was not able to make calls. this was not the case for me.

i'm wondering what would happen if u put in verizon gsm sim card? maybe i will try that, still have my old gsm sim from global storm2 blackberry.

just tried this with t-mobile sim card and it works fine once u switch into gsm mode. my guess is that if it works, the sim on the phone is unlocked... why the hell would verizon or htc hide that the phone has gsm radios built in and it's a globla phone (3G global)???

I was the one that mentioned not being able to use it after a few minutes. It was working fine to make and receive calls...then suddenly I got a message that an unrecognized SIM is in and lost signal.

:(

I'll try again later.

update: phone was working fine for 5-10 min, including sms. After that mobile connection was lost, looks like it is being disabled after a short period of time.. and now it's back again, weird

Try different modes, i tried several. I think I was using wcdma preferred during my near 2 hour test.

How was the data connection?

I didn't get data. The connection shows "EDGE" for both tmo and att so I suspect that data is possible, but i didn't want to mess with the APN. from the xda thead, it's possible, but one person notes unstable.

Well, I believed Storm 2 was unlocked, but when I called Verizon, I was given a whole long step-by-step procedure on how to to unlock it and be able to accept a third-party GSM SIM. I didn't have a need and chance to do this yet, but, still, what gives?

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to understand.

WCDMA with a GSM SIM?

Yes, wcdma preferred. Not to be confused with wcdma only. I didn't switch to this setting, i think that the phone did it on its own, but the gsm sim worked just fine, at least for the near 2 hours that the sim was in the phone.
