gmail app contact question

I have been using my TB for about 7 weeks now, and I have a question about the email apps.

So far I use the gmail app, since I use gmail daily, but I've noticed that it always shows a picture of the android for the contact, when in fact I have a photo set for the person who sent me the email in my gmail contacts. It will also show the android for me at times, other times it will show my picture with a green circle next to my pic. ( I am guessing that green circle/dot means that I am on "online" or "available") but it will still only show the pic of the android for the sender.

However, on the standard HTC mail app, it will show the contacts photo that I have assigned to it (phone and gmail).

So, is there a way to get the gmail app to show the contact photo? Is this a bug or something in the app? I like the look of the HTC mail app, but really like the push of gmail, so I want to use the gmail app, just would like for my contact photos to show up.

Anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it if it's not a but?

And sorry if this was answered elsewhere, I have been searching the net to find out how or why this is a problem, but can't find anything thunderbolt related.

This might work I can't try it out because it doesn't work with my Gingerbread ROM.

Thanks for the reply, but that is only for showing the images in the body of the email, like an html email.

I seems to me that is just a bug in the app. I finally got it show a photo for one contact, and then when I opened up that same email again just 5 seconds later, it was showing the grey android instead of the photo.

I'm still looking for an answer online somewhere, but it seems like its just a glitch. I've tried uninstalling the updates, cleared the data, and cache, but it still just shows the grey androids for me and my contacts within the emails. (just a note, the images for the contacts in "people" work fine, just the gmail app)
