Going Back to iPhone 5

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

I switched to Android HTC One from 4 years as an iPhone user, there's no way I'm going back :)

Things that sold me:
1. Widgets: brilliant
2. Trace keyboard, how can I type any other way now?!
3. Being able to turn my bluetooth on and off easily when in the car. It was practically dangerous and illegal trying to get that sucker working on my iphone if someone phoned me part way through driving
4. The contact integration/social media is fantastic.
5. Many others to list

My only gripe was that I was expecting days of battery usage, it's not bad but my expectations were probably too high :)

Number 3 in particular. I had the 4 and then the 4s and even with all my blue tooth devices in the list they never wanted to work. I was always recalibrating or reconnecting my devices which would drive me nuts!

With android so far I havent had to do any of that, if it's in the list it just works.

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

Maybe some of us don't see messing with your phone all the time as very diverse. Doing other activities may actually be a more diverse lifestyle.

When I am in a bind in regards to my phone, it's people on these forums that save me. So i'm not going to take a cheap shot at them. I'm also not going to act like i'm better than them seeing as I have an account on this site which means I clearly get more into tech than the average consumer.

I do feel bad though for people who "try" switching from iOS to Android but they don't quite give it enough time. 2 weeks I know is the limit in most cases before you need to make a choice and return the device, but there's too much to Android to figure it all out in 2 weeks. A lot of really cool stuff, that we have to know is going to be different than it was on iOS.

"I can choose to buy an overpriced cake (iphone) or choose to make my own cake (android). When I buy a cake I can only choose from what is available. When I make a cake the options are limitless. "

Lol where does Over Priced come from?
Upgrade Price....
iPhone 5 =$199
S4=$199
HTC One=$199

or Full Retail....
iPhone 5 $649
S4= $639
HTC One=$599

All of those seem really close in price to me.

At full retail, the iphone is most expensive, but if a home button or volume rocker quits working you can walk into an Apple store and walk out with a replacement. Can't do that with HTC.
Not sure if the Samung within bestbuy will do that either.

Don't know about HTC but with regards to apple when I had problems they made me go to an apple store which isn't anywhere near me, not once, not twice but three times.

Whenever I've had problems with other brands I could go to any att store and get it replaced. Less hassle.

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

How much is iphone 5 with 32 gig on AT&T?

And does it have 4.7 full hd?

No?

Oh, so the prices aren't really what you listed there, huh?

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

I could care less about widgets myself but thats me. You can put widgets on a jailbroken iPhone by the way. In fact there is very little you can't do on Android that you can't do on a jailbroken iPhone.

From what I have seen of jailbroken iphones they look pretty sad in comparison ton android.

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

thanks for all replies, cool forum.

yea the bluetooth audio and call quality was fine but it wouldn't sync directory properly
That seems like an issue with your car as others seem to have no problems.

the battery issue, i did use wifi and have bluetooth on. i also used auto brightness
Yeah, Bluetooth shouldn't be on all the time on any phone, and auto brightness takes up battery from the ambient light sensor.

i had blinkfeed not as default home screen but still, it's clutter i don't need on the phone
As others have said, a launcher can completely hide BlinkFeed.

the seamlessness that i like with mac/iphone is stuff like iphoto/photo stream.
Again, if you explore more, you'll find that Google has similar products that are just as seamless. For example, Instant Upload works just like Photo Stream.

Cya Bye! Thanks for giving the One and Android an honest chance!

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

We said he is probably better off on iOS becuase he doesn't want to put in the minimal effort to learn android that would provide a better experience in the end.
Better experience for you maybe but not for everyone.

I'm coming from an iPhone 4S and can sympathize with some of what the original poster said. My HTC One is great and no way am I going back to the iPhone BUT there are things about the iPhone I like better. My rough estimate is that I probably got about 50% better battery life out of my iPhone. Bluetooth was always on (who wants to turn Bluetooth off and on everytime you get in the car?) and I had Autobrightness on. With my One I have it on Powersave mode most of the time and turn off Bluetooth although I think battery life has improved over the first few days. My contacts do NOT transfer to my car like my iPhone did. I do not have Pandora in my car but my wife does and it only works with iOS. Because most of my family and close friends have iPhones, Photostream was very nice and seemless in sharing photos with them. Apple couldn't have made it any easier to use. I checked out Instant Upload from the Play Store and I don't think you can say that's the equivalent to Photostream. There are a couple of apps I used on my iPhone that are not available on Android and I noticed some apps just don't work as well either. The benefits of my One easily outweigh those deficiencies and I'm looking forward to learning even more about Android. I can see why others may not want to "bother" and I can easily recommend iOS to a lot of people.

Lol, Instant Upload isn't on the Play Store. It's baked in to Android. The one on the Play Store is nothing like the real one.

But in general I think I can agree with your post.

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

This is a tech forum not a lifestyle forum. There are also scientists that spend a lot of time doing things that aren't riding bikes etc. But if they enjoy doing that then it is their choice. That is why I said it depends on a person's desire to learn vs being told how to use something.

I can choose to buy an overpriced cake (iphone) or choose to make my own cake (android). When I buy a cake I can only choose from what is available. When I make a cake the options are limitless.

If you make a genius bar appt so they know you are coming, have the device backed up via iTunes or iCloud before you ever get there, and its an obvious " this button is broken and does not work" they never send you away and have you come back 2 and 3 times. Unless they don't have your phone is stock, which is hardly ever, you walk out with a new device in 1 trip.

If what you are experiencing is or could be in Any way software related, they will try that first.

No one said he doesn't like to think.

Anfdroid does NOT provide a better experience for most people. for example my dad has tried my N4 but he preferred his iPhone 5. just because it is the better experience for you doesn't mean it is for everyone.

You should really do more reading and less posting.

Your last 3 posts are include 2 responding to the same comment and one that misses the point entirely and is wrong. iphone does not have full 1920x1080 display.

Of course I am not surprised as you keeping come to android forums because you feel **** hurt that android phones kick iphone arse.

Re: Going Back to Iphone 5

Bottom line: OP tried iOS, tried Android, was on one of the best devices of both platforms, chose the one he wanted. I'm not sure why anyone has a problem with that. I would have chosen differently. I'm not the OP. Caring just went to 0%. Good luck OP!

You are SO right! It's like I read in another forum -- some people have to think they own the greatest phone on earth and all others suck -- very sad!

I agree. I don't think anyone has a problem with it per se. Like I said in my first line of my first post way back in this thread to the OP: iPhone is better for someone like you who doesn't like a feature on your android phone, but doesn't bother to change it

He definitely made the right decision.
