We are going on an extended trip to a remote area in southern Baja California next month. The residents in this area - both Mexicans and gringos - use Telcel phones. The only international Verizon coverage in Baja is in the big cities; there's no Verizon coverage throughout most of Baja.
I have read that theoretically the Samsung Galaxy S4 is unlocked and it is possible to successfully use SIM cards when travelling overseas, but I read also about people frequently having difficulties. Has anyone here had success travelling in Mexico, inserting a Telcel SIM card into a Verizon Samsung S4? Do I need to call Verizon Global before leaving the U.S.? Any suggestions regarding settings for the phone? Telcel is on GSM...
Thanks in advance!
