It's just an extra step to get into my phone I don't need.

Power button.
Swipe.

Easy.

Unless I'm doing it wrong all I need is an LED to tell me I have messages.

What is the extra step? If you use fingerprint sensor, it will wake your phone up and unlock it in one step.

You can hard press the home button from the AOD screen and get the same result. As long as you turn it on...

AOD adds no extra steps. You're just doing it wrong. Does the Notification LED tell you the time and date as well as each notification too?

I guess if I'm seeing stuff, I feel like my phone is on. but its not. I see notifications I cant just tap and see. I double tap them, and the its still not on. I just dont get it.

Yes, you can only see the notifications on the AOD screen not go into them without extra steps for security. I think you can remove them if you want.

its fine do not use it if you do not want to.

i like having the time there without having to push any buttons

I just unlocked my phone and saw ghosting of the time from the aod. Burn in and issue with this screen?

Hang on, you can double tap on the notification icon, unlock and it goes straight intro that app. Use this all the time!

I personally never understood the appeal of AOD. Not something I need or want.

I love having AOD, I can't where a watch.... You can also wave in front of the sensors to turn on phone, in accessibility

I am going to go a day without AOD turned on. I noticed yesterday it was second most battery usage.
