Google Assistant is driving me Mad

I toggled off Google Assistant and it's still popping up. I've literally tried everything on the Web to get rid of it, except for removing the Google app itself. It's driving me mad and I'm almost to the point where I'll remove Google Assistant by any means necessary. What can I do?
