Google Assistant: Landscape mode?

Am I totally out to lunch here or are they missing landscape mode for Google Assistant? Was driving in the car yesterday, had the phone mounted in landscape mode and started up google assistant with "OK Google" and she shows up in portrait orientation. Any results that come back you can't read easily unless you tilt your head (not advised to do so while driving).

I don't know if you've solved this, but there are several apps on the play store to essentially force orientation. It appears that Google Assistant works only in portrait mode.

Unless...

You load and run Android Auto ( https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...le.android.projection.gearhead&token=cdEz01al ). With Android Auto running, Google Assistant follows the current screen orientation.
