Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, I just bought a Verizon S3 and I imported my calendar on the desktop. I still don't have my schedule in the phone because whenever I go to manually sync the calendar on the S3, it gives the error "Unfortunately, Google calendar sync has stopped." EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've set up mobile on the desktop, and I've tried connecting via WiFi and 4G both get the same error.

Anyone else have this issue? Is there a solution?

do you have the sync option turned off? I had this issue with my company calander and i had the sync turned off.

Under accounts & sync I have calendar checked for that account. I just ran sync for the entire account and everything sync'd but calendar stopped again... this is getting annoying, it better be fixed by next month...

I was very happy with the Galaxy S3, until I tried to sync my Outlook calendar. Heads-up for Outlook users: Samsung support has confirmed that its Kies software does not fully work with the Galaxy S3. They suggest an 18-step export as a work-around:(
"
The easiest way to export the calendar from outlook is to import into gmail account used by the device and from there it will appear on the device.

Export from Outlook
1. Open Outlook
2. Click File menu
3. Click Import and Export
4. Click Export to a file
5. Click Comma Separated Values (DOS)
6. You may be required to install the possible translator here. Just follow the directions on the screen.
7. Select folder to export from: Calendar
8. Browse, name, and save the file some place easy to find it. (Desktop)
9. Click Next
10. On the follow actions will be performed screen click the Finish button.
11. Allow the export to perform
Import into Google Calendar
1. Open Google Calendar
2. Click the small arrow in the upper right corner of the ?Other calendars? box that is on the left side of your calendar page.

3. Click the Import Calendar link under Calendar settings
4. Click the Browse button and select your exported file
5. Choose your calendar
6. Click Import and wait. It may take a bit.
7. You will be notified when the process is completed.

Not sure if you were aiming your response at me or what...

Anyway, the end of your guide there is where my problem comes in. I imported my calendar on the desktop and it won't sync to phone.

Suggestion: Try deleting the account and setting it up again.

What will happen if it's my main google/android account and I delete that account?

Oh was unaware that this is the main account. Unfortunately, you will have to do a factory reset. This is why I have two google accounts, one is the main one associated with the phone, the other is used to sync my calendar and contacts in case something like this happens you can just delete the account without having to perform a factory reset.

So you never had it working?

Nope, the calendar hasn't sync'd yet on my phone. On my Nexus 7, a diff account has sync'd over the wifi and everything, but not the Galaxy...

I am synching Nexus S calendar with hotmail calendar and this has just stopped working. I know this sounds crazy but the only thing that has changed is that they forced a mandatory upgrade on my outlook connector on the PC.
Unless the new connector is doing too many updates and locking the hotmail calendar somehow and the phone is timing out trying to get the hotmail calendar.
But all this was working great until I got the new connector upgrade.
The entries are just not there on the calendar phone. If I go out toggle the box on the phone under the calendars to sync page, click it off and then say ok at the bottom of the page. then go back to the same page and click it on and then click ok again, it pulls all the entries from my hotmail calendar.

Delete Every Recurring Event in your Google Calendar. Then sync. I tried everything, spent time on the phone with tech support for the cell phone company, etc. and saw the recurring event suggestions somewhere.

Forward your calendar out week by week until you are certain you have deleted all Recurring Events you have set up in your Google Calendar. Then try syncing again.

This isn't as much a fix for your problem as a very decent workaround. Use Jorte calender from the play store. It's free and syncs all of your calenders in one main calender widget. It also offers cloud service if you setup a free account.
I have my google account, work calender, and a home google account through this and they all sync perfect.

SYNC2. If any of your guys are using Sync2 3rd party software to sync google calendar with outlook, that might be the problem.

Did you figure it out? I got my S3 yesterday, I love it, but I get the same error and unless I can figure it out I am going to have to return it :-(

Thanks,
G.

I'm not sure I understand how you're trying to sync your calendar. If you use Outlook, then you should be syncing calendar with Google Calendar Sync (link can be found using google search for downloading and setting up Google Calendar Sync) Any changes you make in Outlook Calendar will automatically sync with your Google calendar and vica versa. I assume you have already setup your Google account on your phone. If it doesn't sync data, then try this: menu/settings/Application Manager/select all programs...delete data in both Calendar and Calendar Storage. Close. Reboot phone. Then, Menu/Settings/Accounts and Sync/open Google account (the one with your Google email) Be sure there is a check next to Sync Calendar, the select Sync Now.
That should sync your calendar.
Hope that helps.

If the problem is synching google calendar with your android phone: I have solved this problem yesterday by deleting all recurring events from my calendar. It synched fine after that.
I think it is probably OK already to delete recurring events with 'no end' to the recurrancy.

THE ANSWER- On the Samsung III for some reason that calendar doesn't like to sync with Google. I've been on the phone multiple times with Verizon and Samsung. What we did was stop the factory installed Calendar from syncing on the phone ( since you cant delete it). Then Go to the Google Play store and download the free Google calendar and watch it work!!!! Must be a Samsung/Google glitch. Good luck.

I had the same issue and the only reason I didn't go with the iPhone5 was because I love the seamless Google calendar sync, so when this happened to me I was not happy, so I read the forum and followed the advice of the REOCURRING CALENDAR EVENTS. I went to my outlook and searched for all my reoccurring appointments. It is easy to do as they have a drop down sort for them by reoccurring events. I deleted them all, then deleted my Google account from my phone, turned off my device, powered back on and reentered my GMAIL account back onto my phone/device. Luckily that is such an easy step to do within Google. IT WORKED. All my calendar stuff synced right over to my phone.

Just an update...

I DIDN'T DO A THING and it appears that my calendar has been syncing. But, here's the deal: I have double entries (from when I tried to sync my schedule from PC to phone) on the PC, but not on the phone. So it would seem that it's syncing ONE WAY if not for the fact that my entries from my phone are showing up on my PC. SO I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.... BUT IT'S WORKING NOW.
