Google Maps update reboots phone

It appears that a Google rep is escalating the crash problem to the production team. Now we wait to see how long it takes Google to fix the problem. I hope it is soon.

How did you find this out?

I'm upset about this. I'm headed out on a big road trip this afternoon and I'll be screwed without Maps!

having the same issue with my rezound.
I'm also not able to connect to Google Play, Places, use navigation or maps.
I'm noticing that when I try to access these apps.... I don't see the 4G icon at the top.
Has anyone else noticed this?
:-\

No issues for me. I am running 4.03.605.1, the latest update. Google maps 6.10

I wonder if that makes a difference - I don't know how widely deployed 4.03.605.1 is yet. I am having the problem with my Rezound where it reboots, and not only that, but Bluetooth no longer works after the reboot. I have to pull the battery to get bluetooth working again.

I'm running ICS 3.14.605.12 710RD. When I ask about software updates, it tells me none are available.

The 4.3.605.2 update is widely available in RUU format and it runs the new Maps with no problem as well. Although for most people the best bet is to uninstall updates or Google for "Maps 6.9.3 APK" and side load it in, only v6.10.0 is the problem but I would expect Google should get this fixed very soon.

I had the same problem with crashing until I cleared cache. Maps seemed to run okay then, but I noticed that my bluetooth kept turning off and I could not turn it on without rebooting. Removing the update took care of the bluetooth problem. Anyone else notice that?

I haven't used google maps at all! If your looking for a good free nav app i use waze. Its the best navigation application that I've used free or paid.

For the life of me I don't understand how stuff can get just pushed out without testing. This is why I refuse to add ICS to my rezound. I know I have stated this many times, but I personally think you all should complain to Google. BTW you all can try Waze as it I use that as well and it works great to.

Waze is nice, will give you that... I can assure you Google tested this, but they cannot test every piece of software with every piece of hardware and release of software for that device, that being said if a piece of software comes out with an update that is critical to you, you should wait a few days (maybe a week) to install it to just make sure there isn't something really wrong that wasn't foreseen, like in this case.

Not to change the focus of this thread, but ICS has been tested for the Rezound for SEVEN MONTHS, and the version that is OTA now was out for over a month before it was released publicly (.10 is virtually the same as .12, no major components changed) and is relatively bug-free, more so than most major OS upgrades regardless of the platform.

Google should at least be testing their apps on every stock Android device on the planet. Google has the resources to do so.

Anyone know if iapktop.com is a safe source?

I'll stick with native Google Maps instead of a 3rd party app. Aside from this instance, Google Maps has never let me down and is improved each year. And, I love how my Maps searches on my PC automatically appear in my search history in Maps on my phone. Very efficient.

Eventually, those other guys will either screw up or want my money somehow. Plus, I've seen two other navigation devs shut down in the past; then, you're screwed.

Crashed, deleted and reinstalled updated and crashed some more. Factory reset reinstalled and crashed. Uninstalled updates and seems ok now. I thought it was my phone but guess it isn't.

Going to try waze anyway.

I am Adnroid lover, but an iOS developer :)
The major thing why I mostly prefer iOS is because they (apple) never let no one to upload buggy application... even google!!!!
Every time when I am posting an application, apple review the app for a few days to any device with any iOS version available.
GOOGLE.... you must teach this lesson !!!!!!!!

This happened to me too. Uninstalled maps updates, OK now.
