Google Maps update reboots phone

I am Adnroid lover, but an iOS developer :)
The major thing why I mostly prefer iOS is because they (apple) never let no one to upload buggy application... even google!!!!
Every time when I am posting an application, apple review the app for a few days to any device with any iOS version available.
GOOGLE.... you must teach this lesson !!!!!!!!

Easier to do when Apple makes fewer versions of a phone including fewer hardware changes than the typical Android Manufacturer. A price I am willing to pay (short term problem) versus having hardware (Apple) not as good as what I had 3 phones ago.

I updated to the latest update, the .2, and the maps issue went away.

I am not finding a .2 update. I uninstalled the update to see if a different update would download, but I am still stuck at 6.10.0

Did you find this update in the play store?

Thank you, Google, for constantly telling my phone that there is an update for GMaps. But, until I see version 6.10.1 or greater, I'm not dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwnlooooooooooadingggggggggg it ... dammit. :)

I believe he's talking about the RUU here. Could be wrong, tho.

Funny thing is that in the play store you see all these complaints from rezound and other HTC owners from the past couple days. And next to the review you see 'older version'. It must be reading what's on their phone now which is the UNINSTALLED update. Yeah the older version works just fine.... But the new one sucks.

Where can I get the APK other than the Play Store?

Scroll back about 15-20 posts, there was a link there (by TBolt I believe), or Google for "Google Maps 6.9.2 apk" and you will find it. You will also need to enable Unknown Sources in Settings - Security in order to install an app not from the Play Store.

Was on the road yesterday, and kept going to reboot. Uninstalled updates, worked fine, even had the voice still on it. Aggravating tho, to have reprogram an app when your halfway lost and driving. Yeah, this is safe. LOL

But this is 6.9.2. The update is 6.10. The version the phone rolls back to is 6.9. What is different from 6.9 to 6.9.2? And what did they add in 6.10 that's not in 6.9.2?

Go into google maps and sit there for a bit, it will reboot your phone.

This had been happening to me. I just uninstalled updates now it works fine.

Guys, just so you know, the last version (6.9.whatever) has everything the new version has, minus the new icon. The pre-cache maps are under settings > labs, and it seems to work fine.

I've given up and rolled back ... GRRR!

At least I can use the darn app now. Hopefully it is not long before Google gets a fix out there!

How did you get it to roll back to version 6.9.0? Mine went all the way back to 6.3.0

One option is to go here in your mobile browser:
Google Maps 6.9.2 - APKTOP

Download & install.

I installed it ... no reboots.

I made sure to uncheck auto-updates for Google Maps in the Play store, too. Currently waiting for version 6.10.1 or greater.

Thanks. I downloaded it and I'm running 6.9.2. Thanks a lot!
