Google Messages One UI Update

Yeah I'm glad we can manually update and that the version number is greater than what is in the Play Store so that we don't have to avoid updating. I have done that for certain apps in the past where I didn't like the new version and it is extremely annoying to have to avoid updating only one app. It's nice that we can update and leave it alone for a while rather than constantly being on an older version.

I turn auto updates off on all of me and my wife's phones and do a restart, then manually update them once a week or so, I find out about the problem apps here, then avoid updating till you guys give the okay :p It's saved us tons of headaches over the years :D Also I found some apps don't auto update well, and need a restart to work correctly, which leaves you with a suddenly non-working app that just updated in the background (yep I'm looking at you Google Assistant lol).

I also have several 3rd party apps on my wi-fi only tablet and back up phones that I haven't updated in years, because the newer versions became so bad and over-bloated they were unusable, while my versions still work flawlessly.

Updates aren't always a good thing (yes I'm looking at you Fitbit, the Kings of making apps worse, and taking away features and hiding them behind paywalls with new updates

Curious, is anyone actually getting the Samsung Version of Google Messages naturally? I've been having to manually update to keep the Samsung version. I don't mind it so much but it just seems ridiculous that they haven't pushed this yet. At least they haven't on my AT&T branded device.

Samsung Messages is the stock messaging app on the global, Exynos, devices. However, I prefer the Google Message app.

I like the Google /Samsung collaboration app which is Google message but follows One UI flow

What do you guys think? Me personally I love it as it will make Google messages more competitive. Link share is a feature that I love using in Samsung messages. Love it because it doesn't matter if you have Android or iOS you're able to send high quality photos are videos that they can access via a link and it allows you to limit how long they are viewable. Think this will be a great addition to Google messages especially making it available with the Google photos app.

I'm for it

Does the Samsung version of Google messages work with RCS on Samsung Messages app? I prefer Google messages but my wife prefers Samsung messages so for RCS to work for us we both have to use the same app right now. I've tried Google messages and RCS doesn't work between it and Samsung messages. We are on Verizon.
