Google Messages One UI Update

Does the Samsung version of Google messages work with RCS on Samsung Messages app? I prefer Google messages but my wife prefers Samsung messages so for RCS to work for us we both have to use the same app right now. I've tried Google messages and RCS doesn't work between it and Samsung messages. We are on Verizon.
Google/Samsung collaboration app works with Google message app , as far as I know no for Samsung rcs app

I don't know why we can't just standardize around google RCS already. Make it one standard that all apps use and then you can use whatever messaging app you like best and still have the benefits of RCS. I am also debating on going to a Pixel 6 Pro which would break RCS for my wife and I again.

Thats what Google working on and carrier have agreed to it , I think by next year or 2 it will be Google rcs

Samsung messages is rcs capable. I am not sure why you don't get the features between the 2. I use samsung messages in my s21, and a few of my contacts use Google messages. I have read and delivered receipts for those conversations.

What carrier are you on? I am wondering if it has something to do with Verizon.

I am on sprint/tmobile, I know 2 of my contacts are Verizon that this works with. RCS is kind of really buggy I feel.

Yeah it seems that it is. I have been thinking about getting a Pixel 6 pro so I can dual sim my work and personal and have one device. But the downside is that I will lose RCS between me and my wife which is my most used contact. So that would be one downside to it. Who knows maybe it will randomly start working, but I have been doing some testing and have Google messages on my work phone and Samsung messages on my personal and I don't get RCS between them at all. It did take a day or two though for my wife and I to get RCS between Samsung messages too when we first set it up. So I definitely think it needs work.

It looks like Verizon is still using Verizons advanced messaging with the Samsung messages app. So that would probably be why it isn't working. But like you said I thought there were times I was on google messages and someone I know was on a Samsung and using Samsung messages and the chat features were working.

I'm starting to get nervous that Google isn't pushing updates for the Samsung Dynamic version anymore. The last Samsung Dynamic update was put out on November 3rd and there have been several updates to messages lately, none of which have been the Samsung Dynamic. Crossing my fingers that they keep supporting it.

I check it daily and the updates have always been consistent until now. I'm going to send Google an email, not that that will do anything but it's possible that I might get a useful response.

Haven't heard from them yet but I've reached the point where Playstore wants me to update and there is no Samsung Dynamic APK for me to download to prevent the phone from wanting to update. Man, what a bummer. I wonder why they stopped updating the Samsung Dynamic version?

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the rollout of 12 and UI 4.0? Maybe Samsung has just made Google messages the default? Wishful thinking. I will probably just update because it will drive me crazy having a constant notification that messages needs to be updated. I did search on APK Mirror for the latest Samsung Messages app and I found 13.0.00.74 but it won't let me download it.

I'm a bit confused just saw this thread so with Samsung updating to a12 they added Google messages so is their messages still going to be default or Google now?

I just updated to Android 12 this morning. I currently still have both messaging apps and Samsung Messages is version 113.

Edit. This is an S21 on Verizon.

I can't uninstalled Samsung Messages. It probably won't let me mess with it since it's a native system app. I have the AT&T branded S21 Ultra and AT&T won't let go of their crappy "advanced messaging" which is technically RCS, just a really lousy/outdated implementation of it. They need to just adopt universal RCS.
