Google Music is Live!

I think the problem is that Google ended up having to develop two different music backends - one they were developing most of last year that was based around the premise that they'd successfully negotiated with the music labels, and this one much more recently. So this is probably more a literal beta than normal for them (rather than just polishing a few things based on feedback and ensuring they can scale up to a wide release).

Also, they may still be hoping they can negotiate with the labels for a store (or even music matching) before they get out of beta, although from what I've read they won't get any breakthroughs until at least June, as the music industry is hoping Apple will launch their product then and it will pressure Google and Amazon into giving in to their terms (let's hope not!).

I'm hoping this isn't like the App Inventor program, where I had to wait over a month for my invite :p

i waited 3 weeks for a google voice invite way back when, so im expecting a similar wait here. no problem, as i need the time to rip all my music again anyway.

I'm streaming some music I purchased from Amazon right now. I hope Goog can add more features, but that this point I think Amazon has the best feature set. iTunes will probably have a lot more freedom than Amazon, and have even more features. I have never bought a song off iTunes, however, and never will.

I got mine the other day but I admit I haven't used it. I plan on getting songs on it tonight, I will post tomorrow after using it to let everyone know what I think.

Well I cant seem to upload anymore... it got 130 and does nothing... I run the test, restart the program, the computer, i have uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing.... It tells me everything is fine... whatever

That's why is Beta. It stalled on me a few times, but it was the fault of my internet connection. Eventually got them all uploaded.

I know its beta... But the main purpose of it doesnt work for me anymore.... Eh... My internet connection is fine. Ill just wait until its none beta.... 9 hours and 516 songs out of 3900 so 6 or 7 days to go. lol

Edit : I fixed it by deleting the database file and letting it rebuild the file and everything starting flowing again.

I requested mine day of and still have not got an invite. I'm in KY, I have a wi-fi Xoom, Evo, blah blah blah love google products, blah, blah, only one gmail account, linked to everything.

I have a hard time believing that they are specifically targeting Xoom owners? Wouldn't it be more location based?

/whine

I have recently tried amazon cloud though, and it took 3 days after stalling 4-5 times to get 3,000 songs up, cant stream worth a **** on my Evo too if I have anything less than 3 bars of 3g, but I'll blame that on the connection.

I dont think so I think its first come first served. I requested one the day of, probably 1-2 hours after launch

I requested about 15 minutes before the keynote. We'll see how long it takes an OG Droid user. :)
