Google Nexus 6 on T-Mobile

Re: Nexus 6 - Which T-Mobile Stores

Well I give up purchasing in the store. Either they don't have it or its sold out lol. Its amazing you can get a Galaxy or an iphone easily......but not a Nexus? 64 GB is on backorder. They said it can take days to up to 4 weeks Lmao. Screw that! I'm not waiting anymore. Anyway, I ordered the 32gb from T-mobile and should get it by Saturday!! All in all I'm finally have some relief.

Re: Got it

I tired to get it at T-Mobile today but there isn't a single store in Salt Lake City that received them. I tried to buy it from the 1-800 number but they wanted $50 extra if I wasn't setting up a T-Mobile account. Sucks....

Me too, none of the T-Mobile stores had it in stock and they were only order if I set up a plan with them which I do not want to do. I'm already on straight talk AT&T prepaid plan and it's already paid through January so I don't want to change over to T-Mobile. I guess I just have to wait to my order for December 2 comes in.

Re: Got it

Walked into local T-Mobile store this morning and picked one up. Put my Att card in and now enjoying it. I feel bad for those here that spend a lot of time ordering online and then not even getting it earlier than me. Though I was one of the first people to try ordering the day play store claimed to have it.

First impression is that its big. Definitely found the moto x more comfortable. But the nexus 6 still fits comfortably in my pocket, will be better for reading a lot because of the bigger screen, has wireless charging, a barometer, slightly brighter screen, and better camera (indoor shots look less noisy, but it may be different processing on the moto x built in app, i.e. less noise smoothing.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Lucky you. No T-mobile store in my area had any in stock. So I ordered online and should get mine on Saturday......hopefully.

Yeah. Wanted 64 but frankly I never use that much storage. Most everything is in the cloud, and the most storage I ever need is for a few movies for a flight.

What do you mean, get a iPhone easily??? Many People had to wait on back order for months and some continue to wait. Samsung supplies a lot more phones at launch but they still sell out but they are good at catching up with demand.

Re: Nexus 6 - Which T-Mobile Stores

Does anybody know what the T-moblie prices are for both models? It looks like they charge full price for the phones?

Re: Got it

Got my nexus at a local t-mobile store. I called and they said they had a few in. When I got the store it was pretty busy inside and I was worried I was to late. When I got up front the rep said she thinks they only have one left and I was getting it, I was so pumped. The guy to the left of me was also getting one, he said he was tired of touch wiz.

The rep was showing off her m8 to me, she clearly loved it and said she thinks the nexus 6 and the m8 look alike, I guess I could see it. Anyways I've got it in hand. Haven't done much testing or what not. I will eventually.

Side note, a man was in the store because he was having data issues with his iPhone 6 plus, and the rep told him it's probably because he has Google Chrome on his phone.....

I know these reps don't pay attention to phone tech like we do but come on!

Google Nexus 6 My First Day Impressions

I'd like to share my first day impressions. These are only my opinions so please don't flame me. I've had the N5 since release day so that what it be considered against.

Build quality - Is excellent. The curved back really feels good in the hand and feels thinner then it is. It feels like a very premium device. Only down fall I noticed today was that its difficult to text on it while it is laying on a flat surface. The curve wanted to roll.

Display - I'm not sure why ever one was talking about the brightness. But mine is bright as hell. I have the brightness turned way down and it is plenty bright for me. It just looks great. YouTube looks amazing on this big of a screen. Emails are amazing on this big of a screen. I can see all of my attachments.

Battery - Always hard to say for the first day. I downloaded a lot and used it more then normal. But I had to pull it off the charger at 80% and after 2.5 hrs of screen time I was only down to 40%. So considering I never had a problem with the N5, I'm sure I'll be fine.

Speakers - Never had front facing speakers before to compare to, but these sound great too me. Its crazy to think all this time I used my hand cupped around a rear or bottom speaker. The ear piece took a few phone calls to get used too. I couldn't hear the first couple calls but then realized that I didn't have the speaker centered on my ear. Once I found the sweet spot it was good to go.

Camera - Sorry but I very rarely use a camera so to be honest I never even opened the camera app once today. But considering the last 3yrs every camera on a smart phone has worked for me, I'm sure I'll be fine with the picture quality.

Bottom Line - The size might take a couple days to get used to but I am really liking this size of phone. I was even able to text one handed. If I was going to just carry phone 80% and use 20% of the time, I would stay with my N5. But if your going to use this thing more then you have it in your pocket, you will greatly appreciate the screen size and quality. My main functions are emails with attached documents, YouTube and web browsing and the 6in screen is very welcoming.

These are just my first day impression, but please share yours. I'd like to see how others first day ideas went.

Re: My First Day Impressions

Thanks for sharing. I played with the n6 at a T-Mobile today and I have my doubts now. The thing was huge, which was one of the reasons why I wanted it. But now I don't know. My phone will supposedly ship on December 9.

Might end up selling it or returning it.

Re: Got it

...

The good news is, that the N6 that I received today does not have that issue.
So it might be a problem with some units.
Because how can you explain some ppl think it is excellent, and some other like Anandtech think it is awful.
AnandTech | The Nexus 6 Review

Keep hating.

I don't think it's a "hating" issue. I have a lot of respect for AnandTech. In this case it could be that they were evaluating a unit with an earlier version of 5.0. They called it as they saw it -- but possibly should have included a caveat.

But I'm still not convinced that this AMOLED screen brightness thing isn't a problem -- I'm willing to wait until I hear more hands-on reports -- particularly actually using it in sunlight.

Edit: It also could have been a hardware issue with the review unit that AnandTech tested.

Re: Got it

Umm where on earth did you get that information? It doesn't have T-Mobile branding and it isn't locked at all. You can pop any sim into it and it will work. If you pay the cost of the phone, T-Mobile couldn't care less what you do with the phone.

They wouldn't let me buy it unless I signed up for their crap service. Tried two different locations.

You can buy out the phone from them, make a new account, cancel your new account within 14 days and stay with the phone.

Re: My First Day Impressions

One thing I forgot to add. It charges on my N5 wireless charger just fine. But blows my mind why google would leave out the alignment magnet. Its a little tricky finding that charging spot.

Same as Google. You can pay all at once or pay monthly for two years. No interest.

Actually there is a magnet there, it's just not very strong (maybe the curved back makes it harder to stick).

Any who...my impressions so far (32 GB White):
Build - Best feeling handset I've owned so far that's not an iPhone. While it's certainly a monster sized phone, I think I'll adapt quickly to handling it. I love the metal frame and touch of the white backing. The way the edges of the screen curve down is excellent for screen swiping. All around an excellent, premium feeling device...finally, a Nexus phone that doesn't feel cheap! Button placement is a little odd for me, sometimes I find myself accidentally hitting the power or volume buttons when picking it up. It will take some time to get used to it.

Display - Coming from the Nexus 5, I have to agree with those that say it is a bit dimmer than I'm used to but after a few hours of using it I found myself used to the new brightness level. In fact it's pretty good at 50% or above (turning adaptive display off). At any rate videos look excellent, web browsing is excellent, colors look vibrant, text is crisp....overall an excellent display. I have not noticed any uneven colors or flickering yet that I've read others have been reporting.

Camera - I haven't really put this through its paces but so far with the inside shots I've taken, I'm impressed. Still need to test it out to get a better feel of how this camera will work for me.

Battery - Too early to say at this point. So I won't comment further.

Performance - Perfect. I haven't noticed any slow downs opening apps or any jank in general animations outside of a few un-optimized apps (yes, still using some gingerbread era apps...ugh). Everything just flies for me. Game performance is excellent.

Speakers - Awesome, couldn't have asked for louder sound from a phone.

Call quality - I've made a few test calls and it appears to be passable. Nothing special here.

Overall, I'm pleased so far. The real determination will be after using it a week to see if it's still worth having over my Nexus 5, but after using a screen this big, it'll be hard to go back to a smaller device.
