Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Well from that Droid Life Nexus 6 unboxing video, it doesn't look like it'll be hard to get Verizon working with it. And so from that mean there will be only one version of N6 and with no Verizon bloatwares and direct update from Google.

Also a short glimpse of the side of the box shows the phone is made in China, not assembled in US like the Moto X.

@joetheinsider were u able to get any info on any potential timing for when Verizon will carry it??

Re: Nexus 6 on VERIZON

Verizon, is not the official carrier. I have no idea where you're getting that from. Playstore will have the unlocked and pure Nexus just like the previous two.

Dealing with unlocked versions is new for me. I really like the feel of the stock Android. With that said ... Will VZW allow you to put the unlocked Nexus version on their network?

Nothing, it's nowhere in our systems right now.

Joe/anyone else.
I just hit the chat button on the Playstore and asked the rep if the N6 will work with VZW even tho it's not listed on the N6 page.
Here's the 2 chat screens I captured. I know, maybe the rep doesn't know anything, but I'm still not convinced if someone buys the N6 tomorrow/next week and has VZW service, they will be able to use it yet?? Seems stupid that you can't, but we all know VZW! :P

There's a video floating around showing a reviewer putting a Verizon SIM into a Nexus 6 he'd received from Google and getting it up and running. There's no knowing for sure until the devices are actually in hand and you try it, but unless that person had specific assistance from Verizon that would not be readily available to general consumers, or unless Verizon enacts some sort of block / whitelisted mandate between when that video was shot and when devices are released, it should be fine even before Verizon starts offering them for sale directly.

Went to a Verizon store today to discuss my bill. I just opened a contract for my wife and daughter 2 S5's and 1 flip phone (grandparents). The contract on my line is up December 23rd. So, I asked them about N6. Both said they heard of it but have no e-mails, marketing product or anything. So, one of them went back to their Upcoming event e-mail and N6 is not mentioned. One of them went and looked up the specs and said, "Bro, get it from the play store and switch SIMS. I wouldn't mess with us! Personally, wasn't going to get if from Verizon anyway. Whatever, I buy will be through BB.

Are there any benefits to getting it from the playstore as opposed to in store at Verizon? Like what happens if u drop and the screen breaks...? Google doesn't have an insurance plan. I've hears that u would have to go through the manufacture if something like that happens. Wouldn't that cost a lot to get fixed?

What happens if there is a software glitch and it is messing up? Would google replace it?

I'm starting to seriously consider preordering because it's anyone's guess as to when Verizon will actually get it.

Feedback is much appreciated.

For warranty issues, you can go through Motorola regardless of where you bought it (so long as it was an authorized retailer (e.g., Play Store, Verizon, T-Mobile, Best Buy, etc). For not warranty issues, some carriers may still let you add their insurance (though there may be a brief 'waiting period' before a claim can be filed), but you're probably better off going through one of the more reputable 3rd party insurance companies like SquareTrade (of course, you'll want to confirm with them they will cover the Nexus 6 -- they should, shortly, since they cover the Nexus 5) as the cost of the insurance and deductible are far lower than carrier insurance (though it doesn't cover loss/theft).

I'm about to just buy the turbo on Verizon seriously ...yeah it's not android 5.0 but it's still a good phone imo

I would like to see something like this as well. Pros and Cons of going through Google vs Verizon.

Google: Non-subsidized price, quicker updates, stock Android, no bloatware, have to get a Verizon SIM
Verizon: Support from Verizon store, bloatware, slower updates/Verizon-branded OS, subsidized price

Assuming you are up for renewal, I think it comes down to: Is the price difference worth it?

Re: +1 Like Tweet Rate Thread Add Poll For those wondering if the N6 will work on Verizon...

I just spoke with an awesome and knowledgeable rep from Google over the phone. He told me without a doubt that the N6 OUT OF THE BOX will work on Verizon. There will NOT be a special model made for Verizon and that there is TWO Models, A US & International Model THAT'S IT. He said anyone who buys from the Play Store can simply pop in their SIM and the phone will do the rest. He also stated if you need more confirmation, Just visit Nexus 6 – Google and scroll the the bottom right and there you will see Verizon Wireless.

Some of us already knew this including myself, But i realize some of you are nervous about spending all your money just for the phone not to work. You are good to go!

This is good knowledge but like you said, some already knew this. I'm waiting for VZW to get it in store b/c I have an upgrade burning a hole in my pocket that I want to use instead of paying $700. That's what I'm waiting for.

Good luck..... Sounds like Verizon is going to drag it's feet like it did with the LTE Nexus 7.......

Re: A question about upgrading to Nexus 6

Joe -- what was your driver to go with N6 instead? I was following you over in the Turbo thread when you had decided to go Turbo.

For me, my wireless bill bill is paid for my company so not getting subsidized phones is silly. I really hope that VZW get the N6 soon so I can get it on contract. I am assuming a $200-$300 price tag with 2 year contract.

I'm OK w/ that. I love my Moto X. I'm not impatient and crazy like some people around here are.

I decided to get the Turbo and it's a great phone. If the phone was going to be I stores I would of waited but I need a phone and not going to wait for the mythical nexus 6. Whenever it comes I might see if I can sell the Turbo and get the nexus 6

Verizon - Not in Store???

Anyone else concerned with this??

We are getting more Nexus 6 devices in stock as soon as possible. To make things simpler for you, we will work to make more devices available each Wednesday and encourage you to visit the site then.

The Nexus 6 will also be available in AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular stores later in November. Please check with your local carrier store for more information.
