Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

Does note 4 have 2 radios? If not can you make a call not VoLTE? I cannot afford dropped calls. It is why I use VZW. I can honestly say I have never had a dropped call. Never. Not once. If all the new phones do this I'll keep my note 3 forever.

Ugh...don't want to give up all these features. Too bad. New Nexus looks cool otherwise.

The Verizon Note 4 still has dual radios so you can use voice and data even if you're not on a VoLTE call.

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

Is VoLTE something you can just shut off? Sounds like a pita

It usually is an option. It really isn't that bad ... Once it connects on a call as long as you don't lose LTE it will stay.. At least that is how Verizon's works. For others (like T-Mobile) if you lose LTE it will drop back to HSPA for the call so you won't lose it.

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

I'm VZW but I often go back and forth between 4G and 3G or even no data coverage yet I do not lose calls now. Sounds like VoLTE would be torture where I live. I work in Boston so no problem there but I live in the burbs where I am on 4G no more than 20% of the time.

Just to be clear. Is than an option to shut it off completely and always?

Yeah you can shut it off -- Unless Verizon changes that in the future -- But I don't see them doing that since it won't be the best for everyone.

Well I just made a $30 mistake. I went into an IM Wireless Verizon (not realizing it wasn't a real Verizon store) store looking for a Nano Sim card for my new Nexus 6 that will arrive in a couple weeks. Had a long discussion with the manager who said he wasn't sure it would work, blah blah blah. Said if I tried it and it didn't work I couldn't return the Sim Card. I told him Google said it will work. I'll take the risk. So I buy the Sim card for $30. After leaving I talk to a friend who tells me he has gotten multiple free sim cards from a real Verizon phone when buying phones through eBay. I called a real Verizon store and they confirmed there is no charge for a new Sim card. He said bring in the phone and we'll take care of you. So I turn around to go return the unused, still in the plastic credit card thing, Sim card to the IM Wireless store. They wouldn't take it back! I argued with the manager quoting what he had said about "if I tried it and it didn't work" I couldn't return it. Nothing about not being able to return it un-used. Wow what a crook! So PISSED!

That's terrible. I bought one off eBay one time for $4 just to avoid having to deal with my local Verizon store but $30 is ridiculous. He probably just straight pocketed that money lol..

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

Ugh. The old Galaxy Nexus on VzW had two radios. You had to be on LTE in order to simultaneously use data and voice. I would imagine any new phone would be the same unless VoLTE is involved.

So far the Verizon Turbo is only one radio -- So you must be on VoLTE in order to do voice and data -- So if they follow that with the Nexus it will be the same.

Right. That was the caveat I included.

My point about the GN operation was for folks considering a dual radio handset.

I'm in the same situation as you. I just pre ordered the white 32GB version instead.
Weird. I got the refresh link at 1:59 yesterday but it didn't go in the cart. I guess I was on the tail end. I had been refreshing earlier too. I guess it's pretty random.

AT&T / Verizon compatibility Question??

So if I purchase the 6 from google play or motorola's website, the ph will work with either att or verizon? Same device for both services?

Also, I know with at&t if one has an lte device you just pop in the sim and go. How about verizon?

Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

Went to Google Play tonight to look at the nexus 6 and noticed Verizon is no longer listed again as a available carrier.
I wonder what gives this time?

Quoted text from site...

"We are getting more Nexus 6 devices in stock as soon as possible. To make things simpler for you, we will work to make more devices available each Wednesday and encourage you to visit the site then."

"The Nexus 6 will also be available in AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular stores later in November. Please check with your local carrier store for more information."

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

That message has always read like that. I think all it means is that Verizon, themselves, will be selling the phone later than the other carriers. Doesn't mean the Play Store model won't work on Verizon.

Re: Verizon again missing from Nexus 6 page

No, this past Sunday I was showing the N6 to my mother (she wants one bad) on the Play Store and it clearly showed Verizon as one of the Carriers.
