Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

For what its worth (probably not much) a guy on reddit says a Verizon employee looked up the N6 on the in store computer and it shows a late November to early December release.

Hopefully tho that won't stop us Nexus 6 soon-to-be owners from being able to use our Moto/Playstore version on Verizon with LTE service? :) Last Thurs a local store employee said that if it's not "in the computer" then it won't work. However, we've all seen the 3 or so videos floating around showing it "should" work. He continued to say that if the IMEI # isn't in the computer, then it won't work just by putting in a Verizon nano sim... Uggg, hate all this BS!! Just be straight and say yes or no

Re: If I buy a NEXUS 6 from ATT or Sprint or T-Mobile can I just use it on VZW

Simple answer yes they are all the same phone

Not that simple. VZW has blocked fully compatible devices purchased from others from being activated in the past, by maintaining a 'whitelist' of IMEI's. It's uncertain yet if that practice will be applied to the Nexus 6 purchased from other carriers, so for a definitive answer we'll need to wait until someone actually tries it (since VZ isn't saying anything).

The size of the SIM card is not important. There are scissors and SIM cutters to make them smaller, and adapters to make them bigger. The most you'll have to spend is $5.

And if you screw that one up... No thanks

Instead of getting a new Moto X and then returning it like I suggested earlier, you could get the cheapest Verizon phone you can find on Ebay or Craigslist that uses a nano SIM and then use it to switch over to Verizon. When you sign up you will still be eligible for an upgrade since you are not buying a subsidized phone, but you will then have your number ported over and on a nano SIM that you can then use in the Nexus. Once you get everything straight, resell the used phone. First gen Moto X's can be had cheap and you could recoup most of what you paid if you only keep it for a couple weeks. You could also borrow a phone if a friend has one that will work. You could use it to activate your line and switch it the same or next day to the Nexus.

Play Store and Motorola purchases should work.
Nexus 6 from other carriers should also work, but like said above, they could block IMEIs that were delegated to other carriers' inventory....... because Verizon

Hey Joe, is phone launch information laid out far in advance or does it change day to day or week to week. I'm curious because I've heard other people say that they have seen Verizon's phone launch info that goes to the end of the year with no Nexus 6. I was wondering if that can change at any time or is it pretty much set in stone and they won't add another phone to that information.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just finished a chat with a Verizon rep to order a nano sim. I told her it was for a nexus 6 and she said no problem and will send a sim for me in 3-5 days. Good news!

Re: If I buy a NEXUS 6 from ATT or Sprint or T-Mobile can I just use it on VZW

Simply Put Yes... IMEIs for CDMA Carriers are somewhat meaningless in and of the fact that Verizon would not let you get a new active SIM to put in the Nexus if it is from another carrier... however if you already have an Active Nano SIM with Verizon then you can simply put it into the Nexus... It is not like T-Mobile or AT&T who exclusively block each other IMEI's... GSM depends on IMEI for activation and CDMA does not. So In other words:

AT&T Bought Nexus 6 to Verizon and Sprint are OK as long as you already have a Active Nano SIM
Same if bought from T-Mobile
AT&T to T-Mobile or Vice-Versa, must be IMEI Unlocked.

It is somewhat sketchy if you do not have the active SIM from Sprint or Verizon.... They may give you one without having a phone at a store if you find someone willing to do it... typically no from what I have read on other sites.

I am personally doing this myself... so I will 100% confirm when I get my AT&T Nexus 6 and try to use it on Verizon... say it will ship by 18th

So, if you have a nano SIM or don't mind cutting one down... it does not matter where you get the phone if you plan to use it on Verizon maybe other than a guy with a suitcase on the street. here's why:

IMEIs for CDMA Carriers are somewhat meaningless in and of the fact that Verizon the only thing they would not let you get a new active SIM to put in the Nexus if it is from another carrier... however if you already have an Active Nano SIM with Verizon then you can simply put it into the Nexus... I feel that it is somewhat lacking but can't put my finger on what or why...? Maybe it is because it is designed to work better on Lollipop and it will just take the upgrade to make it a fully realized device... I just don't know. Never had a Nexus Device and this one seems to be the best despite its huge size, plus fully compatible with Verizon. Time will tell and I will happily let everyone know how it is once I get it and how it works on Verizon.

BTW, by the numbers, buying one from AT&T if it actually works to bring it over to Verizon is actually cheaper. $249 on 2 year contract for 32GB model. Keep it 15 days. Never turn it on with the AT&T SIM. Canecel service. Pay $350 ETF... Thats's $600... They may try to charge you 1/2 a months service and activation, but you can easily show no data, no voice, no usage what so ever, so I think you can get most of those charges refunded.. Even so... that will still just take it up to around the retail Motorola / Google price... not a bad deal if you can handle the CSR calls to AT&T and don't want to wait for Play Store and Motorola availability.

Can someone help me our here... I am an existing Verizon customer... If I buy my Nexus 6 from the Play Store and go ask them for a Nano-sized SIM, Do they need to associate the SIM to my existing phone number? My current phone is coming off contract next week FWIW...

Thanks...

Yes, they will need to associate the SIM to your phone number.

I chatted with a VZW rep this morning and asked how to obtain a nano sim for my Nexus 6 (have yet to receive).

She said since they don't carry the Nexus 6 I would have to go into a store to get help. Is this correct and has anyone received a nano sim from Verizon?

Thanks in advance.

Update: After obtaining nano sim part number DFILLSIM4FF-A from another thread, I then chatted with a second Verizon rep. This time around the rep knew exactly what I was asking for without even having to provide the part number. However, the part number on my order summary is different than the one I received earlier. My order summary shows:

DFILLSIM-NFC-D
4G NFC SIM Card

Has anyone received something similar?

I was able to order one from Verizon after a 45 minute conversation. If you look in the other Verizon thread, there is a parts number that you can give them. I got my phone today and my nano comes tomorrow.

The store won't be able to help you.

One nano SIM has NFC support which is for Android or WP models. The other does not and is used in the iPhone. That is the only difference.

I am using the nano sim from my iphone 5s in my moto x (2014) and my NFC works on it...
