Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

1. You can beg them nicely.
2. You can tell them you're going to be trying a nano Sim phone (they might require an imei number, try telling them you don't have the phone yet).
3. You can take a picture of an imei number of a dummy phone of vzw and give them that number.

I called customer support and told them that I ordered a 2014 Moto X from motorola.com. I took some convincing, but, I received a tracking number. I have since come to find that my current Gen 1 Moto X already has a nano SIM so I won't need it, nothing wrong with a spare. It should not be activated, I had planned on calling customer care and asking for a SIM only activation as my first attempt. Fortunately I shouldn't have to do this.

The Moto X they have is already a nano-sim.

That is true, but at the time I didn't know that and I requested a nano SIM for a 2014 Moto X that I bought online. The CS rep seemed less than informed and I think that she sent me the nano SIM because she wasn't sure what to do and I demanded one. I at first told her that I had bought the 2014 Moto X from Motorola.com , she put me on hold to talk to her supervisor and came back on telling me that she would not send me one because I didn't need it as Motorola.com should send me a phone with a SIM installed. I had to change my story and told her I said that I bought it online from a friend on a forum. She said that she would have to put me on hold again and I explained that there should be no issue with the request that I knew others had requested and received nano SIMS for phones they did not yet posses and that I would need to speak to her supervisor if she couldn't help. She came back on to give me the tracking number. To show how little she knew, when she gave me the tracking number I requested that they email it to me, she said that she could not email me the tracking info. 20 minutes later I recived the tracking email from Verizon.

This is pure speculation but I think the primary reason Verizon isn't acknowledging the existence of the N6 is that it would further cannibalize any of their future sales. By the time Verizon gets the N6 most of the people who would get it will already have it, like myself and most of you reading this :)

The Google Play Store web site knows I have it and I'm sure Verizon is more than capable, just not willing.

Nexus 6 versus Nexus 5

I am reading that the Nexus 6 can only be added to Verizon on an active Sim for another phone. That Verizon does not support the phone. But because of 700 Mhz spectrum fcc rules they have too allow it on their network. If Verizon does not support the phone and does not have the IMEI's in their system why does the phone work? Wouldn't the system pick up the different IMEI once it is in the system then block the phone?

I am not a phone nerd but this leads me to the N5 question? How can they block the N5 if it has the same radio capability as the N6?

And on side note if you could point me in the direction of good articles to read on both subjects it would be greatly appreciated. Trying to win a battle with an Internet bully

You can also purchase on Ebay....I've done this before for $3 to $5 shipped, just to avoid the hassle.

I have never owned a Nexus. If I bought a TMobile Nexus 6 and it turned out to have a bad ESN for some reason would I still be able to use it on Verizon? I'm just making sure before I buy this one off craigslist so that if for some reason it did have a bad ESN I could still use it

The Nexus 5 and 6 do not have the same radios. The Nexus 5 is missing both CDMA and Verizon' LTE bands. That's why you can just put an active Verizon SIM in a Nexus 5 and get any data.

The radios in the Nexus 5 don't support VZW frequencies. It's not a matter of denial. They just won't work.

But aren't some of those bands the same as Sprint

Re: Nexus 6 versus Nexus 5

I have yet to read all of this entire thread, I have read most and it sounds to me that no one nowhere really knows when or even if Verizon will actually release this phone...Am I correct? I have been waiting to re up with Verizon for a month to get this phone its really starting to **** me off. I could go with TMO, but where I live in Norcal, the coverage is only good in a few spots, even the guys at the TMO store say it is sketchy. I need good coverage up here because I do mtn bike alot and there usually is no tmo signal where the Verizon signal will be very strong. What gets me is the lack of even a release date. I suppose I could go with a note 4 or moto x, but im tired of Samsung and the moto x is locked down. sigh.....

No one knows. The cust service guy told me to check back after the 1st of Jan. No idea if they know anything, but if you want a nexus 6, either buy one from google play or Motorola or be prepared to wait, a month or two... Maybe...

A tech in the Verizon tech Dept. told me about a month ago that he knows all about the phone it is due to be released in a mid first quarter window..

He was helping me out with my N6.

Wow...that is way late. Wth is Verizon thinking...there will surely be a few new phones announced by then...interest the the Verizon version will wane.

I don't think that's why and I don't think the droid turbo plays a factor in this either. I think it's mostly about stock and verizon doesn't want to take all the heat from customers when they get 2 week back orders.

It seems like every other person posting in this thread has talked to a Verizon rep and gotten a release date different from everybody else.

Reps are just speculating like everyone else. February speculations sound absurd. Then again absurd is verizon

That's my point. There's no point in posting to say what a Verizon rep told them because clearly they have no idea either.
