re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

Wonder if the carriers will be selling it for the same price or can they charge whatever they want?

Re: Nexus 6 sells out in seconds... Not a single blog post from any reputable android site...

To look on the bright side, it was just the pre order. Although strange, at least it wasn't the official launch. If it were the official we would have no idea when the phone will be back in stock. At least we know that T mobile will sell the phone on the 12th.

If the ideas are close to true about them saving most of the stock for the carriers, then hopefully we only have a few weeks to wait. I'm just trying to be positive because there is nothing we can do about it.

Re: Nexus 6 sells out in seconds... Not a single blog post from any reputable android site...

Id like to agree with that, but it just seems weird that blogs didnt even say Update: Nexus sells out in seconds Or "Bad Nexus Launch...Again". I mean thats what these news sites are here for right? To deliver news. No matter how redundant it is. Apple sites are continuously redundant saying how fast iPhones sell out and any other piece of information that repeats itself.

but sites did report it, they added updates to their original posts.

Re: Just a theory about the pre-order

Verizon won't.... They have the turbo (as you stated) What's exclusive at Sprint right now? use to be the EVO but HTC finally stopped making an exclusive phone for Sprint.... I know Dan Hesse probably lost his job because he sold his soul to the Devil... I mean Apple to get the iPhone... I know they have a special plan for just iPhone 6 buyers.... What's AT&T's exclusive phone?

I like T-Mobile... Ten times better than Sprint (who I was with 15+ years) at least here in Dallas.... and this $30 unlimited data/text and 100 minute plan is just awesome... (I only average 60 - 80 minutes a month.... Only gone over once in the now 8 months on T-Mobile) and they keep upgrading their network at amazing speed (Thank you AT&T Break up fee)

I am jumping on the TMobile bandwagon. I just called and they will take my old Verizon Droid X as a trade in. Play off my AT&T ETF. Let me get the Nexus 6 any way I want to pay for it(monthly payments, or buy it outright). I am usually around wifi the majority of the time so I am not worried about data and wifi calling will be awesome so I don't have to worry about signal strength in my home or work. And their CEO is excited about the phone. So I think they will give it great support. I don't see the $30 plan you described on their website. I will be a single line user also, so no family or multi-line for me. Also LOVE that I won't be in a contract!!!!!

To get the $30 plan you have to buy your phone outright and then get the starter kit from Wal-Mart before activation!

Re: Nexus 6 sells out in seconds... Not a single blog post from any reputable android site...

I would bet that most of these sites have "sources" as they get review devices all the time to play with and write reviews on. So I am sure they have somebody at Google as a point of contact. Yet nobody knows anything. Just conjecture. I wonder if the "sources" don't know or have been told to say nothing, or if people on sites like Android Police and Android Central know but can't and won't say anything. Their silence is deafening... I mean not one person from AC has come on this forum and said anything. Not even, Wow, was that a cluster*** yesterday or what....

Re: Just a theory about the pre-order

But if I want them to pay off my ETF, how does that work?
I honestly couldn't answer that! I was lucky my contract was up right as the Nexus 5 came out so i had a lot of freedom to move around! Depends how much your ETF is..... I've been saving almost $50 a month with this plan or $600 over the last year... I'd guess they won't pay the fee and allow you to use this plan....

Porting my number was easy!

Gotcha. Well I can always pay off my ETF and get this phone on monthly payments and pay it off early. That is a sweet deal for $30 bucks especially when wifi calling is activated. Save the 100 minutes for emergencies....

It's a steal of a deal! Even with Wi-Fi calling I don't talk on the phone much anyway!

I then buy my refill cards at best buy instead of linking my credit card just for the reward zone points! Then cash in points for a reward card to buy another refill card!

Re: Just a theory about the pre-order

I been with Sprint since the OG EVO. Now I'm looking to go to T-mobile. Sprint has been too quiet and I highly doubt they're carrying the Nexus 64 GB option.

We should never doubt what we don't know.

Ummmm are you telling me that Sprint may carry the 64? Come on you can tell me. Lol All jokes aside, I may still go to tmobile anyway.

I left Sprint after 15+ years with the nexus 5! Amazing... mad I didn't do it earlier.. averaged right at 1 Gb of data a month on Sprint! With T-Mobile I average over 5 because the network is so much better... your market might be different but in Dallas I can't complain...

I've got a guy on the inside who is fairly confident that Sprint will have both storage options and both colors.
Just like all the other US carriers.

Re: Just a theory about the pre-order

So, I "guess" I could see the theory about Google holding the N6 stock back for carrier push, but WHY penalize us consumers that
A) Do NOT want to buy from a carrier and risk possible bloatware/locked bootloader/any other "weird" carrier stuff
and B) Don't mind paying the $649 because of A reason above!

Ever since jumping from VZW and being contract free on TMO for last 2yrs, it's just been the best thing. I got my N4 and couldn't be happier as well with NO carrier interference/bloatware.

I understand they want the N6 to gain large popularity/sales from carriers now but at the same time, why can't they build enough for GP buyers too? Doesn't seem un-reasonable and quite frankly from a revenue standpoint, it's more money for them?! win win to me?? <shrug>

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

FWIW, I just chatted with a Google rep (like I'm sure 1000000 other people have in the last 24hrs!) and figured I'd ask about the N6 too and next availability. All he said was they are sold out now and "hopes" they will have more in stock before the holiday season. Uggg....

Nexus 6 available for pre-order October 29, release sometime in November

They have to have some sort of deal with the carriers which I can't understand because none of them would look at the Nexus 6 and view it as a "big seller". If iPhone got yanked from all carriers they'd probably stroke out, but a Nexus? Doesn't make sense unless Google is giving them something else.

Re: Nexus 6 sells out in seconds... Not a single blog post from any reputable android site...

I think Google isn't talking, so no one knows what happened. Was it a technical glitch? Did Google decide to only sell 100 phones for some reason? Was it a case of unprecedented demand? Until Google talks, there's not much point in someone writing an article, the entire article would be pure speculation.

I'd like to think it must have been some sort of glitch... If they actually intended on only a few hundred phones through the Play store, they'd have served themselves and the public better by simply saying that the Nexus 6 would not be carried in the Play store -- and if for some reason there is cause for the concern about carrier-locking, they could buy directly from Motorola. As it stands, they've brought yet another round of bad PR concerning their ability to manage a retail roll-out themselves, ticking off a lot of people (well, a lot compared to the very few who actually got devices) and getting virtually no gains from it (there's no way the profits from the few sales they may have managed to make will outweigh the cost of the PR).
