Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

I sort of figured it would be 11/12.

Re: Here's my prediction for Nexus 6 reviews

I don't have a source for the screen speculation, its based on what I'v read in a number of places and the evidence we've seen of recent phones which also use Samsung AMOLED panels.

Note 1/2/34 all easily get ~2 days of real world usage, so anything less from this phone will be disappointing.

Ok, so it's still speculation - not confirmed - on the screen. I do agree it's likely true, but always interesting to see things like that actually confirmed.

If there's one thing 'battery tests' teach us, it's that everyone will get different life depending on their own real world usage. For my part, any phone that gives me 1 full day of my real world usage is providing all I need, as I can always plug it into a wall charger or battery pack overnight. Anything longer means that, for my purposes, the phone could've been made thinner and been just fine.

Re: Here's my prediction for Nexus 6 reviews

Everyone saying you don't think it can go over 6 hours screen on time... I averaged 6-6.5 (24+ total time) on my Note 4 which has the same sized battery, same RAM, same CPU, same GPU, and the same screen resolution. The Nexus may not match that, but I don't see why it couldn't.

Since stats are worthless without usage info...

My feature usage includes push sync for all Gmail stuff, Dropbox auto upload, Facebook and Twitter sync hourly, Evernote sync daily and on app opening, Google Now on (all bells and whistles) with location on high accuracy, bluetooth off, NFC off unless I'm actively using it, wifi on 24/7, never used power saving or turned off data/wifi when sleeping or in low coverage, etc. My physical usage was a lot of browsing, AC and iMore apps, Facebook, Twitter, SMS, YouTube, Hangouts, minimal voice calls, and very, very little gaming. A lot of my time is spent on wifi because I'm rarely away from it, so I would expect a small drop if I was on data more.

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

I'm lowering all expectations of a possible early delivery before the 12th. Oh well... iPad Air 2 and Nexus 9 to play with.

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

My greatest hope are that it becomes clear no later than the first date upon which the phone can actually be received (which appears to be the 12th, from at least T-Mobile) as to each carrier's stance on whether or not they will allow devices purchased from other providers to be used with their SIMs, and which carriers, if any, are locking their devices or installing bloatware that cannot easily be removed without rooting and might interfere with direct delivery of updates from Google.

Without that information, I can't see myself rolling the dice with any carrier's device, even if it means a potentially lengthy delay to get one directly from Google to be assured of those freedoms.

The devices will download a few apps based on the carrier sim you place in, which can be deleted, just like any regular play store app. This has been discussed multiple times. Also all you need to do is put your sim in and it works, even for verizon. Droid life did a video on this.

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

They can be as arrogant as they want. Google phones aren't important to them. They owe us absolutely nothing. Remember who they are.

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

i'd take the Lollipop OTA on my Nexus 5 tonight as a consolation prize.

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

I just want the 12th to get here.

Be careful what you wish for.

What I mean is we're all hoping for great things on the 12th. It reminds me of another date that we were waiting for with great anticipation - Oct 29, also known as N-Day :) And we know how that turned out...

Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

Hopefully they will resume orders soon. I don't want to buy a nexus phone from a carrier.

I'm confidant its dropping on the 12th. I don't know about other carriers though.

I am thinking that Oct 29th was PO-Day.... and yes, it has more than one meaning to me besides Pre Order - Day....

Also all you need to do is put your sim in and it works, even for verizon. Droid life did a video on this.

Their video showed one working, but it was one provided by Google - not one as released by another carrier. Possibly a very important distinction.

There is only one version for US though. They are all the same, regardless of carrier now. Now will a carrier sell you one if you don't have service with them? Maybe, maybe not.

Same hardware, NOT same software. Verizon can block IMEI's of all devices sold via TMobile, AT&T etc, and most likely will. Devices sold on Play Store will have their IMEI whitelisted.

This is an important distinction many people fail to grasp.

I think being Verizon is going to push their droid line and probably thinks the nexus won't sell in huge numbers, I doubt they will
