I will wait till January to try again for a nexus 6 if I do not hear of a unlocked gsm version of the turbo. Will update my nexus 5 and use my OPO in the meantime.

Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

A very small amount of people have been purchasing the device pass the preorder launch date [one such person as recently as today] according to a poll on XDA. I suspect November 12th will be the date the floodgates are open.

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

Same hardware, NOT same software. Verizon can block IMEI's of all devices sold via TMobile, AT&T etc, and most likely will. Devices sold on Play Store will have their IMEI whitelisted.

This is an important distinction many people fail to grasp.

And how do you know this? The phone is not even out yet. Since when did Verizon ever block an entire line of devices from another carrier?

All of this is absurd speculation until the phone is in the average user's hands.

I'm kinda encouraged by this, so I'll give it a try again the next few days. For the several days after the 29th, I kept the Nexus store page open and auto-refreshed, but no luck in getting an order in.

Midnight Blue 64GB seems to be the Unicorn. I have heard reports of people grabbing all other variants but that one.

Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

Why are people going for 64gb, what do you guys need this much for. What stuff are you mainly storing.. Apps ?? Adult material in 4k ?? Photos ?? Music ??

Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

While 32GB might be enough for some, for others it is not. Apps & Games are starting to take up alot more space nowadays not to mentioned if you root your device ROMS & a Nandroid can take a big chunk out of your memory. Titanium Backup can also take up quite a bit of memory depending on how many apps you have backed up. Right now I have about 7GB of free space left on my 32GB Nexus, before it was about 4GB but I have since removed some apps to free up more space. I have no pics or vids only apps & a Nandroid at the moment. A 64GB variant will give me more headroom & it's only $50 more so why not?

How about because I just want 64gb?

Oh kool, I don't really root so wouldn't need all that software, also wasn't aware of the price difference being only $50, I'm just a UK guy with no release date

Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

Why wouldn't you spend a mere $50 more to double the memory?

When you have a mortgage and really shouldn't be buying a new phone to begin with.

re: Google Nexus 6 Preorder Info & Reviews

There is only one version for US though. They are all the same, regardless of carrier now. Now will a carrier sell you one if you don't have service with them? Maybe, maybe not.

Much like the Nexus 6 is the same model for all US carriers, the iPhone 6 is the same model for both AT&T and T-Mobile. Does that mean that I can take one I purchased from AT&T and activate it through T-Mobile? Not if AT&T locks the device.

With the Nexus 6, we do not know if Google is permitting that or not, but we do now have a confirmed precedent for a change of practice by Google in that they are allowing carriers to queue carrier-specific software for install. Nobody can make any confirmed statements before we have more information from the carriers, so at this point it is all speculation based on the past practices. But as with the app installation, practices can and do change in an evolving market - my point was that it may not be accurate to say that "all you need to do is put your sim in and it works, even for verizon." And while Google can and has developed a device that is capable of operating on all US networks, that does not mean that they have the ability to prevent a carrier from refusing to activate service on devices bought from a competitor, however foolish that practice might seem (in that it may deter people from switching to them).

If Sprint is looking to restrict, it's not absurd to speculate that Verizon may as well...

Can anyone who successfully pre-ordered a Nexus 6 confirm if at any point in the ordering process Google asked which carrier you use (they never did with the Nexus 4 or 5)? If they didn't, this is just another ignorant rep. If they did, well, we may have an answer.

Ha well if you're spending $649 already I don't think the extra $50 is where your problems lay.

Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

I keep refreshing the nexus 6 Google play page. I get a little sadder each time

I pre-ordered one. I can confirm that the Google play store did not ask me what carrier I was using the phone for.

It's definitely an exercise in futility. I keep a page up at work for the 64 GB white on the off chance that it becomes in stock for a brief second. More likely to win the lottery at this point.

Hopefully they release more next week.

They said this with the N5. All they have to do is add the imei and it'll work. You'll have to go to a corporate store most likely. Don't ever trust an online tech, they know nothing

Re: When will the play store allow more orders for the N6?

For $50 it seems like a reasonable jump. Also, coming from a Samsung where I could store pictures on a SD card, I figure it is just as well to make sure I have the extra space (just in case)
