Google Now keeps saying my location service is off

So I've completely reset the phone and now I don't have the issue. So am I good as long as I don't update Google Now?

I've also got this issue. Maps and other apps pulling location work fine after a soft reset but after a while they stop working. Just hangs on waiting for location. I keep having to soft reset to bring back maps functionality. Really annoying. I think the problem began ever since I updated. Google needs to roll out a fix asap. Maps is one of the most used functions on a phone

Are you guys reporting this to Google? I've sent in reports to Google as well as Sprint and HTC. All I keep hearing from Sprint and HTC is that they have no reported issues of this. I don't have high hopes this will be resolved any time soon, if at all.

After the factory reset, the problem is definitely gone. I even did all of the updates and the problem has not resurfaced.

I'll say this though , when it wasn't working, my battery life was a lot better. :-P

Got sick of waiting and did the factory reset. Network Location has been removed from downloaded apps and put back where it belongs in all apps....hmmm... Google now is back in business, at least for now...

HI All,

I have this same problem where maps was telling me to enable location services.

Just got an update of an app called com.google.location or something like that didn't quite catch it's full name
rebooted phone and all is working now (HTC one X on Orange/EE UK)

my network location version is 1.1.10 not sure what is was before though
but everything is working now weather updates maps and other location based apps.

That is the same network location version as I have on Evo Lte. Curious, is the app located in the downloads, or only in all apps? When I factory reset, it removed itself from downloaded. So far, mine is still working.

Microworx, how did this update appear? I have the same phone and network as you and I have yet to receive any updates..

I'll just wait for my Play Store to be updated to 4.1.10

I happened to be updating another app at the time so I'm guessing my play store got updated too to v 4.1.10

That's when I saw something about location service being updated.

I have just checked my partners phone and its still on 4.1.6

So I guess I got fix early

Love how it got fixed the day after I factory reset.

I have the best luck. =P

Me too...it would figure...although my reset seemed to improve my battery and some other glitches.

Everybody listen. I broke down finally and did a factory reset. It worked. You will not lose anything if you do an HTC Backup and Reset which is in your settings. All my photos and videos were saved and loaded back exactly the same once I entered my Google account. All my contacts were saved automatically to my Google account also. Also sent them to my SD card just in case. Reset!

No need to do a factory reset. Just go to the link provided above. Google put out a fix for this. I updated my Google play and all my location issues were resolved.

I got sick of waiting for my Play Store to update on my One X so I downloaded the above mentioned .apk, installed and restarted. Everything is working again, hopefully now my battery will last more than half a day as Google Maps was sucking up more than 50% of the battery power whilst the location service wasn't working..

Google did just put out a software update. Just go to settings scroll to bottom where it says About, press it, then press update.
