Google Now widget problem. Cant swipe cards away and different layout

Whats wrong with my google now widget? In kitkat it use to be smooth and i could remove (swipe away to the right) individual cards.

Now I have section blocked cards that cant be swiped and I must open the google now widget to remove cards....?

Really, you could swipe away cards from within the widget? I just tried that on my 2013 Nexus 7 (still on 4.4.4), and I can't do that.

Sorry, Yeah I could do it with the same widget under kitkat on my Nexus 5. I'm sure I could with my Nexus 7 2013 but I don't remember now. I know I could on the Nexus 5 as the widget was so smooth and rounded it wasn't square like the picture.

That's still odd to me--I recall the Google Now widget on my Nexus 5 on 4.4.4 to be that same square-cornered widget.

Yeah it's very strange. I use to be able to swipe each card from the widget without having to click the widget and then open google. :|

Maybe I'm losing my marbles lol.
