Google Pixel 6/Pro - just over the horizon?

US and Euro pricing.
Nice.

Cries in UK pricing though........

( Will still get a pro as I have the disease )

I anticipate the Pixel 6 Pro to come in at $1,099 to match the 13 Pro Max pricing, but certainly won't complain if it's $999. I could see them going either way - they may be motivated to price at $1,099 to match as setting it lower would open them up to the criticism (legitimacy thereof being arguable) that 'Google knows it isn't as good so priced it lower;' on the other hand, $999 stops just shy of that kneejerk reaction/objection people have when a price goes up by another decimal place (which is why everything is always $999.99 instead of $1,000.00).

Want to edit some of my novels, so they can be published? Haha.

Hah! I have a friend who spend many years as an editor. VERY different set of skills from those I've developed. I'm good for technical accuracy, but not so strong effectiveness of delivery. Send me a Pixel 6 Pro and we can talk about it ;-)

While we await the Pixel 6, figure I'd share my highly detailed render of a Pixel yet to come. Not the Pixel 6, or the 7, nor all the way to the 9... This is what I image the Pixel8 will look like.

Plenty of speculation; however, one thing for sure; Google will price these phones at what they want and that will be known when they want it known.

I also wonder, is the iPhone really in direct competition with Google or is it Samsung with their S-series phones?

I do not see people jumping to iPhone vs. a Google Pixel but I do see them jumping to Samsung and vice versa. In my mind, there is a very good chance my next phone will be a Samsung S-series; long before it would be an iPhone even though I believe the iPhone is everything I would want in a phone. And, I will admit, the more I see of the pixel 6, the more the look of it is growing on me; however, I would not even consider purchasing till a few months after it has been released, and until the S-22's have been released and tested by everyday customers who will do things to a phone no once comprehends.

And for me, my 4XL still takes OK photos when traveling and my Nikon 850 is still home in the closet.

Yes the Pixels have been very strong for stills since the original Pixel and at the time I was using the LG V series of phones which I adored for their robust manual photo/video modes. I noticed the results of the Pixel devices and I was impressed but the manual enthusiast in me largely dismissed it as cheating using all that computational magic. I really didn't like that someone could get a better result than I could by just pressing a button while I had worked so hard(and having fun as well) mastering manual exposure, shutter speed and ISO. Over the years, I've slowly fallen into the latter camp of getting the great results with only thought to framing and creativity. I love shooting video on phones especially when I had the V20 and V30 cause I could get everything the way I planned it with much success. On the OnePlus 7 Pro I had to opt for Filmic Pro and while not as optimized as the built in manual mode on LG phones, it proved to be a very worthy candidate for making mobile content. If the rumors about the Tensor chip being able to do for video what Google has done for stills holds up, I probably won't stray too much outside of the stock camera app for those same computational magic results. So I'm very excited about what Google can do with their own optimized hardware. Vivo has come a long way in just a short amount of time themselves so I can only imagine what Google will be able to do given their tried and true algorithmic genius. Friday is the start of the new month and the countdown has begun.

Some news. Brandon Lee is quite reputable. Used to work for Android Police and gets Team Pixel devices from Google.

There is no chance it will be a straight conversion price for the UK unfortunately. .
£770 would be amazing for the Pro. And would sell like crazy if priced so. So, knowing Google, there is no way.

It was cheaper to get the Samsung note 10 + than the 4XL at the time. Daft halo pricing is not new to Alphabet

I would have to disagree.... I think your delivery is great, I find your post's very entertaining to read. As well as technically spot on ;)

You have a nice backup skill if you ever wanted to do any moonlighting :p

Who else has bought a case or 2 ?
I have almost bought one (or two ) on Amazon, but waiting for Spigen to release their cases; I really like Spigen cases. I'm hoping there are nice fabric cases available with the phone on order day so I can order one with my new phone and then get a Spigen armor series when they are available.

There have already been leaks of the typical Google fabric case for the new models, with pricing reportedly at $40 (I wouldn't be surprised if there's an initial store credit with purchase of the new Pixel that could be used towards that). I'm thinking of ordering a third party fabric case for $10 shipped, figuring that way I don't have to be concerned about Google's cases possibly shipping separately and/or later than the phone - I'm not wanting to let it go a minute without protection. Plus, a lot of the time these 3rd party cases can be as good or better for a fraction of the price (or in some cases (pun not intended) they're the exact same case).

In the end I'm torn between looking for a Bellroy leather case (favorite case I've ever owned, used on my Pixel 3 XL) or maybe trying a Dbrand Grip (heard great things about them across the board).

That case looks so good! I think I may do the grey one and a clear case. I typically don't like to hide the design of the phone especially since the color schemes of the Pixel 6 phones looks striking.

I'm with you here - probably get a Spigen Ultra Hybrid - Crystal Clear as I have for my last few phones.

No 6 cases on their site yet.

I like Spigen cases too; however, on my 4XL tried and like the ESR Air Armor Clear Case. Find it is just as well built as the spigen.

Haha. I usually buy half a dozen cases and end back using a clear Spigen for the duration. Just like my current S21U and iPhone. Have 3 Samsung OEM cases for my S21U that have been on it for a combined time of about a minute.

Have bought 2 cheap cases for the 6 Pro ATM , 1 clear condom case and a fabric one. Will do until the usual suspects get round to releasing.

And as I say every time with no real intention of doing so - will I just wrap it this time

Definitely looking forward to the 6Pro. My 4XL is still working well, but time for a change.
