Google Pixel 6/Pro - just over the horizon?

I have the S21 Ultra. I bought it shortly after it was released. I'll probably just wait until the Pixel 7 since I'm financing this phone for 30 months. By then it'll be paid down enough to be able to sell on Swappa for what I owe on it. I can't see myself going to the S22.

I do love this phone, but I'm constantly looking to have the latest tech when it comes to smart phones. I figure I'm always going to be paying on a phone. Why not have the latest and greatest if I can afford it? I just tend to get bored with Pixels and stock android pretty quickly. I am skeptical that the 6 is going to be perfect and free from any bugs or flaws. It'll be interesting to see how well it performs compared to the other top Android phones and iPhones.

SPOILERS: This is basically all the info for both pixels. if you want to be surprised at the event then ignore.

Can you post a screen shot? Your link defunkt.

Try again - it's working fine for me. Nothing really 'new' here that I could find other than confirmation of Magic Eraser, variable refresh 10-120Hz, GG Victus glass, and (different than I recall seeing) wired charging being at 30w, no 33w like previously leaked.

Loving the potential of magic eraser, though the example given wasn't a terribly challenging one, and can't tell if it's filling in the gaps in a lifelike manner.

Non of the links work for me, either. But, I have to go mount a plow to my old beater so not important.

As for eraser, been able to do the same thing with Photoshop for years. Not sure if it works the same way.

I don't expect it will do anything that couldn't be done in photoshop, but if it is able to put in all the effort for you and achieve a better result than one who is not practiced in it, could be really nice. The original demo they gave of it a while back, removing a chain link fence from the foreground, was pretty amazing.

I currently have the S21 regular version. I was thinking of getting the regular Pixel 6. However I'm hoping Google offers the Pixel 6 pro base model as 256gb of storage with 12gb of ram. That would make the phone with a $999 price tag.

I'm really hoping the process are for the $749 regular Pixel 6 and $899 for base pixel pro.

In the past, generally the only real differences between the regular and XL models were size/resolution of display and battery size. That's changed with the specific differentiation of a "Pro" model.

There's too many differences between the regular and pro to only have a $150 difference in price point. Aside from the size of the display and battery, Pro adds 4x zoom, UWB, and improves over the 'normal' 6 with QHD 120Hz vs FHD 90Hz display, 12MP vs 8MP selfie cam, 12GB vs 8GB RAM... there may be more, but that laundry list on its own suggests a more substantive price difference.

Osterloh already set the expectation that the newest flagship will be priced like a flagship, which would put it more likely in the $999-$1,099 range, something that seems about right based on the EU pricing leaks.

IMO, The Pixel 6 could come in at $749 - I would be pleasantly shocked to see it any lower - or as high as $799. I just don't see less than a $200 difference in price to the Pro, and hopefully not much more.

If the 6 Pro comes in with 256GB base (though all leaks I've seen have suggested base would be 128GB), it certainly wouldn't be $899.

Looks like 6 has 21w wireless charging vs 6 Pro's 23w. Kind of a strange difference.
6 Pro indicates 94 degree ultrawide front facing camera (only if you turn on RAW, which is off by default). Not listed on 6's page.

Never tried to remove a chain link fence from a photo, but removing people is the most likely scenario, I would think.
Years ago, this photo, taken with a Nikon F5, Fuji Provia 100 ISO slide film was made possible with photo shop. Took a half dozen photos in less than a few minutes, then scanned and pulled into photoshop and removed all the people (people NOT seen here). SO I would guess the instructions for the Pixel to remove would be the same. (Monticello on a nice sunny day, and full of people, that magically disappeared in PS.):)

That's a great shot!

I could imagine maybe Google using the natural unsteadiness of a handheld shot (with multiple captures) being used to supplement the data for fine details being removed, much like Google has done to enhance zoom via superres. Or perhaps suggesting a longer capture time to assist in removing things that are passing through the frame. Time will tell!

That would be a good feature especially for low light conditions since the shutter will be slower to open due to a set aperture.

In the case of the photo, multiple photos were taken so in one photo where a person was, the next shot may have had the person further along and the detail behind where the person was in the first shot is known. And so it went for dozens of people walking around and dozens of shots taken.
Same process was done for this photo; people were walking in the courtyard and by the trees; places they were not supposed to be.

If they incorporate features such as this, this phone might just get me interested. Even though I have primarily dropped out of the photo world, barely touching my Nikons on trips, I very seldom take any photos with my 4XL, but possible if the photos were better, I might take more. Might carry the phone more places too.

These are the photos I take with the phone; just a shot to send to friends via email, and you can see that it is lacking sharpness that would have been if taken with a DSLR or possibly a better phone.

Or the occasional shot through a windshield with no worries about oncoming traffic or pedestrians. :D
