Google Pixel 6/Pro - just over the horizon?

As one who has grown accustomed to and comfortable with the Pixel 5, but who is interested in the Pixel 6 because of its improved features, I was anticipating that I would probably opt for the smaller Pixel 6 rather than the larger Pixel 6 Pro. After examining the side-by-side comparison on the PhoneArena website, however, it appears that -- for me at least -- the enhanced features of the Pro will far outweigh the minor difference in size.

So unless the early reviews based on the experiences of actual users reveal serious problems during the first month after release, I'm inclined to purchase a Pixel 6 Pro during the Black Friday sale (even if there's little or no price reduction) and give my Pixel 5 to my wife.

I anticipate the Pixel 6 Pro to come in at $1,099 to match the 13 Pro Max pricing, but certainly won't complain if it's $999. I could see them going either way - they may be motivated to price at $1,099 to match as setting it lower would open them up to the criticism (legitimacy thereof being arguable) that 'Google knows it isn't as good so priced it lower;' on the other hand, $999 stops just shy of that kneejerk reaction/objection people have when a price goes up by another decimal place (which is why everything is always $999.99 instead of $1,000.00).

Hah! I have a friend who spend many years as an editor. VERY different set of skills from those I've developed. I'm good for technical accuracy, but not so strong effectiveness of delivery. Send me a Pixel 6 Pro and we can talk about it ;-)

LOOL I get it! It's a totally different arena. Does your friend still edit?

I will want a clear case for mine when I get it in the New Year.

I totally understand! The finish on the clear case for my Pixel 5 got a little wrecked - so I'll try and find another one. I'd definitely want to show off my Pixel 6's colours with a clear case, too!

I went ahead and bought an inexpensive clear plastic / TPU hybrid case on Amazon, for the Pixel 6. This cements that I'm getting the 6. It's almost identical in size to my 4XL, which I think is a great size phone. I don't need all the extra camera features that the Pro has. I will still buy a Spigen TPU case when they are available, and might buy a Google fabric case if it's on sale with the phone. Now come on pre-order day!

You mean the 6 Pro right? The 6 is closer in size to the Pixel 4. I love the commitment though. You’re in there now.

Nope that's for a regular Pixel 6, not the Pro. The Pro is larger than the 4XL based on everything I have read.

6 Pro: 163.9 x 75.8 x 8.9 mm (6.45 x 2.98 x 0.35 in)

6: 160.4 x 75.1 x 8.2 mm (6.31 x 2.96 x 0.32 in)Weight

Oh wow I didn’t think so but you’re right. I guess I just assumed they were nearly identical in size.

Somebody did a side by side comparo of a 3xl case and a 6 pro, and the 6 pro wasn't that much bigger. I carry a 3xl and doubt I would have any problem with the pro. With the pixel screen to bezel ratios increasing, the bigger screens aren't really affecting the size as much as you'd think :D

There have already been leaks of the typical Google fabric case for the new models, with pricing reportedly at $40 (I wouldn't be surprised if there's an initial store credit with purchase of the new Pixel that could be used towards that). I'm thinking of ordering a third party fabric case for $10 shipped, figuring that way I don't have to be concerned about Google's cases possibly shipping separately and/or later than the phone - I'm not wanting to let it go a minute without protection. Plus, a lot of the time these 3rd party cases can be as good or better for a fraction of the price (or in some cases (pun not intended) they're the exact same case).

In the end I'm torn between looking for a Bellroy leather case (favorite case I've ever owned, used on my Pixel 3 XL) or maybe trying a Dbrand Grip (heard great things about them across the board).

I'm using a Bellroy leather case on my pixel 3xl now, and I agree it's the best case I've ever used. It feels amazing in the hand, fits perfect and looks sharp.... how can you not like that combo? :p ;)
