Google Play Store- Connection Time Out- Retry?

We should write DROID-LIFE and see If they'll cover it. Google reads that site.

I had the same issue, and turning off wifi and letting it try and connect over the cell network worked. It immediately asked me to accept their policy and then went right into the store. Turned wifi back on and it connected without issue.

hope this helps.

I'm wondering if you have something in common, some other app or something that might be interacting weirdly? Since this isn't happening on most phones by any means. What Android versions do you all have and what 3rd party apps?

Just got AT&T Kit Kat Update...
Play Store now working..
We'll see if it's a fix or not..
You never know, it does work a time or 2 every few days..
Fingers crossed..

This is obviously a problem that affects multiple devices. I have been experiencing the same thing on a Nexus 7 (2012) and Moto X, both rooted, both running KitKat 4.4.2. Updates are not affected for the most part, however.

The simple fix that always works for me is to search for something--anything. Then all the normal functions return. Until the next time it happens. So at this point its just a huge annoyance.

It's happening on my Moto X (KitKat 4.4.2) and Nexus 7 2012 (also on KitKat). Has been going on for more than a month. Wonder if it has anything to do with using two-factor authentication.

Yes, mention anything and everything please; it could help to identify where the problem is.

Do you all have kitkat running? If so, is is 4.4 or 4.4.2?

Edit to add: it's probably more useful if you could list the widgets and apps you have installed, especially anything you may have installed right before this began happening.

I've wiped my phone, reflashed with odin, no root, w/ root, only stock apps, and it STILL happens the problem must be on Google's end, IMO. I've gone back to JB just to see and same results. This is very annoying? 😤

Lol - I appreciate you trying to help, but the simple fact of you asking this question means that you are nowhere near qualified to do anything with the information you might get. How do I know that? Because you show no comprehension of sheer multitude of permutations of what you are asking for.

You want everybody here to go through their phones and list all of the apps that they have installed? Don't foget any of the other important factors... Let's also make sure they specify the app version numbers and whether they have auto-updates turned on or not. What about the apps that they have previously purchased and don't have installed anymore? Or maybe purchased apps that haven't been installed YET? Version number of the Play Store, where they obtained their most recent update for the Play Store, saved credit card info or not, any gift card balance, device DPI, current network connection method...

...And all of that doesn't even START to touch any of the stored information that Google farms from each of us to even be able to provide recommendations based on our own personal preferences and reviews/ratings that we have all provided. My guess - and that's all anybody here really can provide - is that it's a problem with Google's Play Store recommendation engine. Most likely, no casual amount of troubleshooting on our end is going to get us anywhere.

Now you start to get an idea about why QA isn't an easy job - and Google is actually VERY competent at it. I appreciate the effort, though.

I'd be curious to hear if anyone else has tried this. It always works for me, and I've seen others say it works in a couple of other forums. The search magnifying glass has always been available even when there's a time-out. Just put any term in there and see what happens.

I could see about the recommendations engine, it always seems to act funny after I can get on the front page sporadically. I thought it could have been related to the 1 month free google music pass that I had with my chromebook because If I could manage to get into the main page, all sections would work except for music. I still have not seen the main music page for over a month. Who knows what it is, but the newest play services and play store updates did not fix the issue for me.

Yeah, it works sporadicly, but it's an anoyance? Considering that the home page is essentially a giant ad, you'd think Google would get this sorted quickly! Sadly, that is not the case? and it's across old and new devices equally, too! 😤
