Google plus auto backup not working for the past several days.

I had the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S4. Unfortunately the trick with Mobile Hotspots didn't work. Yet, I was able to fix it. Here's how:
- Download Google Camera from Play Store
- Take a photo with Google Camera app
- Google+ Photos get unstuck

Done! Strange? Yes, but it worked. Try it.

Thanks, psz! Downloading Google Camera and taking photo was the only thing that worked for my AT&T Galaxy S4. You were right. It's strange, but it definitely worked!

This was the only solution that worked for me, and it was instantaneous. Droid DNA w/KitKat 4.4.2 on Verizon.

Google plus auto backup

Google plus auto backup on my phone hasn't been working for about a month. Just now I went to the settings and pressed on auto backup. You can change the backup settings, and now my photos are backing up.

Go to the application Photos, then open the side bar by clicking on the lines, then choose the option On device. It will show you all the folders in your phone that contains photos or videos. On the right side is cloud. Click on the cloud to deactivate it and then click on it again to activate it. I had 125 pictures to back up and it got stucked and didn't back up anymore and this solved the problem

What is "Data Manager" and where can I find it?
I'm experiencing this problem but I have no such app Data Manager.

Using a Nexus 10 with no mobile same issue.

On Device upper right three bars click on Settings
Click on Auto Backup
Click on Back up All (if it is stuck backing up... this essentially stops\turns off Auto Backup)
Restart the device - wait a min after restart just to ensure everything is loaded
Repeat the steps above... when you click on Back up All - it should then give you a count of your pics & where it left off

I had same problem for several months! didn't realize until today.
google + photos say syncing 1126 photos but not moving....I disabled and re-enabled sync, still stuck.
I read someone enabled both WIFI and mobile data, so I did and it works!!!
This is definitely a BUG!! Google must fix it!

I recently reset my One M8, after upgrading to Lollipop, because it wouldn't talk with my BMW in-car handsfree.

The reset seems to have switched off auto backup as a default.

When I looked at my Photos app, it was saying "backing up 64 photos" - but nothing was progressing.

The following resolved it:

In Photos app, go to "Settings"

Click on "Auto-Backup"

Switch it on - it had defaulted to off.

Sorted.

Google photo and back up SUCKS!! Keeps posting BS music related photos to my account date Feb, 2022!! Tried deleting from devices several times but the keep reappearing. Tried going on google photos on my computer and the google server freezes up after downloading only about 1% of my pics with a message "your older pics are coming"...... Google photo has taken my pictures and mad a effin disaster area out of them. Totally worthless. If I cant access my pictures then WTF?? if this issue is not resolved by google ASAP via a phone call attempt. I will write a letter to the SF Chronicle about Google servers crashing lewaving millions without their valuable memories. **** YOU GOOGLE!!!

Mobile hotspot was not the issue. The cache solution worked, but I'm experiencing some issues. See * below before following these instructions.

Just went:
1. Pull down
2. Press cog for settings
3. Scroll down to Application Manager
4. Drag across to get to ALL in the top tab
5. Scroll down to Google+ (which is below all the other Google entries)
6. Clear Cache
7. Go back into Photos app
8. Go through the guff that is there cos it doesn't think I've been here before
9. Wait for it to finish 'updating library'
10. Wait for it to finish uploading ('backing up') photos to Google+

* Before I did this it only had 30 left to back up, but for some reason it thinks it needs to back up 300. On looking closer I found out it is doing two things. One is backing up older videos, which I like. (I didn't know they weren't being backed up previously.) BUT the other think that is happening is that photos I painstakingly went through and deleted (and got the message they will be deleted 'everywhere' at the time I deleted) are being put back onto Google+. I wonder what Google means by 'everywhere' if they can reappear like this.

Solved-ish.

Mine hasn't been working either. I thought because I did the android update software it caused this. I downloaded the photos to computer then upload to google +. Even though when I clicked photos on phone, they were there, they weren't on google + on my computer

I have found out that most photos saved on the SD card will not backup even tho they show up in the photos app. I simply went in to my files app on the phone and moved all my pictures from the SD card to my devices internal storage under DCIM>Camera. They all started to upload instantly. Hope this helps.

I have the same issue from May 17... I unisntalled and reinstalled I backed up from that day onwards... How ever I still see issues for those days in between... Do we have a solution yet ??

I'm not sure what happened recently but the Auto Backup in the Google+ Photos app has not been working for me. It just says "backing up... 9 left" and never backs up the photos. It's been working fine up until a few days ago. I have plenty of space on my google account.
I cleared out the apps data cache, didn't seem to help. Anyone else having issues recently? Any other suggestions to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Google may have recently addressed this issue:

Open the photos app
Hit menu icon (Top Left)
Select "Settings"
Select "About Google Photos" (Bottom of List)
Select the options menu (Top Right)
Select "Help and feedback"

The first thread there fully answered my questions regarding my photos not syncing. It was entitled "My photos aren't backing up" and was under the "popular" heading. There are a few reasons this might happen and this article seemed to address them all. Following it I was able to get my Droid Turbo (lollipop) to sync photos within minutes. Follow the steps exactly. Hope this is helpful.

Have you added your SD card to the list of folders to back up?

Google Photos -> Settings -> Back up & sync -> Choose folders to back up
