Google selling pixel phones

I have the 3XL, not sure that should make a difference but I haven't had any issues with the music player cutting out. I had the initial problem the first week where running certain camera features would force close music apps but that was related to adaptive battery and fixed itself right away after disabling it temporarily.

Coming back to a game I was mid-level at only to find it refreshed to the start of the level is also frustrating.

These aren't deal breakers, but 4GB of RAM was a mistake. This should never have been an issue for the Pixel 3, a device that is so much about that "superior" stock software.

Very true, there could have been a better name for it. The Google Plex...lol
At first I was like what the hell was pixel a name for? But marketing-wise, I get it Google need it to brand name the phone something other than Nexus. Do I think that Google should have discontinued the Nexus line? no, but they did so it is what it is. The pixel lineup for marketing isn't good name. It always has been. In any company brand name for marketing so, doesn't matter...

Can someone explain why the Pixel 3a is getting a headphone jack but the more expensive Pixel 3 doesn't have it?

Because it's courageous? Honestly, I'm not sure.
Yeah, I was trying to figure out a good reason myself but I'm not quite sure why either.I will say this much in the middle of 2019, a lot of people still go nuts over not having a headphone jack and living a dongle life, but most people that aren't audiophiles just use Bluetooth... I've been using Bluetooth for years. I've never looked back either.

Well, not surprising, google didn't sell that many pixel phones. However, I love mine and I know everyone here still loves theirs so far! as easy of a phone it is to use, it's still somewhat of a niche and geeky phone to use lol!

I just got my Pixel 3 yesterday and I love it so much better than my 2XL. Don't know why I was so pressed on having large phones. My tiny hands can't handle them!

I think they'll drop the water resistance rating to give the 3a the headphone jack. Go the One plus route on that one ...

Google should make the effort to include it in the "premium" model, too. We know we can have ports, weather it's USB C or a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and still be fully waterproof.

You would think premium doesn't mean trading out one feature for another.

I think the jack is irrelevant especially when the dongle provides better sound.

What about my 3XL, I just got used to the fact of the phone isn't really one in the phone. It really is a two handed phone but I freaking love the biggest screen the bigger battery etc

What isn't really in the phone?

The 3A isn't a flagship phone (slower, less powerful SoC), so it's aimed at the "phone calls, texts, emails, music" crowd - the market that buys $125 Straight Talk phones. The flagship market wants the internal real estate taken up by other things. (6MB [or] of RAM would have been nice. So would more battery and an SD slot.)

But it's 2 different markets, and most of the people here (except the "ask, get an answer, never respond" crows) are of the flagship part.

Google’s Reasoning for the Pixel 3a Having a Headphone Jack Won’t Make You Happy

We already knew this though. Google supports MicroSD cards, in budget devices. They support headphone jacks, in budget devices. Dual sim, same thing. Removable battery? Same thing. Some places have far less access to places to charge than other places. Google views these things that some of the ultra-nerds think of as the definition of premium as things that are popular in emerging markets and other markets where people aren't going to be as willing to pay $1000 for a 128GB device, so they want OEM's to have the flexibility to release a 16GB device with a MicroSD slot.
