Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

I'm looking forward to this thing. Can't wait to hear first impressions and actually see it. A case will make it even bigger though. Imagine using a tablet as your phone and you'll get an idea how big, although hopefully it'll be more lightweight. I'm wondering how many people will be returning it, lol. :)

people who have the Galaxy Note and the iPhone 6 Plus and other big Phablet phones say it takes 3-4 days to get used to the size of the device. but they also say once you go big you can never go back - which i believe!

I've actually carried my Nexus 7 around in my pocket before and tethered off my phone.... The bezel on the N7 is pretty substantial but for the most part I could fit it somewhat comfortably in my front Khaki and jean pockets.... It was a little too big.... I've played around with both the Note 3 and G3 and without a case both are very comfortable in the pocket and to use... The G3 more so than the note.... I really wanted to get a Note 3 but passed for the N5 last year.... I held out on the G3 waiting to see what Google would do for a Nexus 5 follow up.... then when the rumors came out it was 5.9 inches I just had to wait and see what they released..

I'd venture to guess you'll see a decent number of them on Swappa or maybe even Craigslist a few weeks or months after it's released.... I know I'll keep my N5 for at least a month before I sell it just in case I change my mind.... but since I rarely talk on the phone this is perfect... I'll probably sell both my N7 and N5 with this....

I have the OPO which, thank goodness, isn't as massive but still quite large and I'm still more comfortable some days with my Nexus 5 in my hand. But I'm not as sure handed as I used to be, so it's an individual thing. Some days the OPO feels great in my hand so it's definitely a matter of what you get used to a lot of the time. Still, I'm excited to see this new Nexus even though I won't be getting it. Hopefully there will be one in 2015 a bit smaller. Bigger than the OPO is just too big for my old hands. :)

2. i never use screen protectors and have a lot of faith in Gorilla Glass 3 - BUT even Gorilla Glass 3 will scratch under certain circumstances. i've found that beach sand is Gorilla Glass kryptonite.

Sand and Diamonds are two things harder than glass..... Metal is not.......

I used to have the HTC One Max which was 5.9"... that was a great phone and size had nothing to do with why I switched to the slightly smaller Note 3. I really like large phones... Just saw a rumor on Pocket now I believe it was, that said VZW will get the N6. If this is true then count me in!

:)

I think everyone single Verizon customer that cares about Nexus will get this phone regardless.... we've been waiting FAR too long!!

I just wish they would release it already. I am ready for it and excited about the 6" form factor. I don't think this will see like the N5, but I think some may be surprised at how well it will actually sell.
