Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

This is a big thread and I didn't see it asked, but what do you think are the chances of the Nexus 6 having the sensors the moto x has? I know at that point it would be a giant moto x but that would be awesome. Best of both worlds. I had a droid Maxx and I miss a lot of those features.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

my guess is price will be the same - starting at $350. but here is some interesting discussion on the matter -

Will Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 be more expensive? Is this a bad thing?

Even if it was a 5.2 inch device with qHD and all the bells and whistles I'd have to guess they will bump the price up to at least $399 starting point... if it is indeed a 5.9 inch qHD screen with all the same bells and whistles a $399 starting point would be amazing.... $349 would be even more shocking... $449 - 499 starting point sounds about right.... and would still be a very low price on a top of the line device...

I hope you are right though... $349 for a 5.9 inch qHD screen, 3 gig of RAM, 805 processor... Hopefully they do 32 and 64 gig of memory though...

History says they will bump it up a little... the Nexus 7 saw a small price bump from 2012 to 2013 and the N5 was $50 more than the N4..... They can always go high and then run a "SALE" on the device if it doesn't sell at the price point the release it at......

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

I don't think with a phone like the OnePlus One being offered at $299 and $349 for 16 and 64GB variants being available that they're going to jack the price up. Arguably better specs on a device, although limited in quantity... It's not that the OPO directly competes with Nexus, or that Google even cared if it did - but I think just based on principle we should see something ballpark range of the Nexus 5 - only with a price bump if the storage minimum is increased.

Oneplus who??? lol......

That entire concept is a waste of time.... OnePlus already admitted they are selling their device at cost or basically at a lost to get their name out there.. Yet about the only thing their name means to me is pointless contest to win a right to give them money....

Not to mention all the issues with the screens on the OnePlus and the no clue how long/well they can support updates for the device or returns/exchanges if product is defective... I'd gladly pay $499 for a product back by Google vs $299 for a product backed by OnePlus even if the specs are almost identical.. (note I was ready, willing and fully able to throw money at OnePlus several months ago... They soured on me with all the contest. I ran Cynaogen on my GS3 and EVO while rooted so I was excited with the idea they promoted.)

I think Google will take OnePlus into consideration about as much as Apple takes Google into consideration when pricing the iPhone....

The people who really KNOW about OnePlus is a very VERY tiny community....

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

Sorry for the random question, but has this device been through the FCC. I was looking and I can not seem to find a mention of it.

I could be completely blind, and it was already stated in this thread.

Edit: I just read that the Nexus 9 went through the FCC recently, which could mean an announcement soon.

Zero chance.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

My point is for a reference device, it's shown that when you don't focus on build quality (which recent "screen leaks" would suggest) you could cut corners on cost. I don't think anyone disagrees with this.

The OnePlus also uses a 801 and not the newer 805. The screens have been yellowing, and there isn't support from OnePlus (Cyanogenmod has been on top of it). I get it. Not a huge deal. But since we're all spinning our wheels and speculating cost, I don't think I'm going to end up paying more than $400 for this phone.

$499 would probably be my tip top of the price range...... After taxes and shipping you are going to be up around $550... but I'll more than likely go without the Nexus 7 if the Nexus 6 is 5.9 inch... I would only need the one device..

Some early "RUMORED LEAKS" of a Best Buy ad had it at $599 and they were $100 more on the N5 when they started to sell it.... If those early leaked screen shots of the best buy ad (still wondering WHY Best Buy would have an Ad built months ahead of time for a rumored device) and the math holds like the N5 signs would point to $499 starting point....

Hopefully I am wrong and it's more around your $400 price point.... (Always nice to spend less)

Hmm... Based on two articles I read, I'm thinking that the Nexus 6 might be a little pricey.

Pricier, definitely.

Even if it is more expensive still cheaper than other phones for top spec and stock android... Can't really complain
