Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

Rumors are rumors until the phone is actually announced.

But AC usually doesn't run the rumor mill like other sites. If AC posts it in the blog, it seems to have more credibility in my eyes.

But still. Rumors are rumors until it's actually announced.

Really hoping that there will be a Verizon version. Thinking there may be a possibility with all the different bench marks

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

All the info we are seeing is different . 1st it was as 5.2 then 5.95 and that shot showed 5.85. All of the shots are from bench marks so the screen size should be the same. We have also seen leaks for the 805 and the 810. There aew clearly more than 1 model being tested

If you read about two or three stories down on tktechnews, TK speculates that the other leaks are of the Moto S, a completely different phone, though he agrees that there seem to be two or more Nexus phones in the works.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

I'm starting to get the feeling that Moto S and the Nexus X (6) are not the same phones. Doesn't Nexus piggyback another phone's hardware and whatnot? I believe that's how they've done devices in the past. Moto S could the phone that Nexus piggybacks w/ their release as the next Nexus will be a smaller version of the S.

Just a thought.

Piggy back off the hardware but custom or stock Android software.... The alleged screen shots of the Moto S or Nexus X "About Phone" screen shows the device to have a Google stock Kernel not a Motorola Kernel... which would USUALLY point towards a Nexus device not a Motorola device..... but that is pure speculation....

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

Sony Xperia Z3 is great in every area.

Bang on. Sadly USA carrier+contract customers get left high and dry for these spectacular phones. But the Z3 is so totally worth spending the extra $350 above a 16GB Nexus phone to buy off contract if you can find one. I gave up on the nexus line ever since all of the major OEM's started adding really awesome features instead of gimmicks and shortening update waits. I'd rather not have vanilla when I can have butter pecan.

Unless you are a TMo customer! Rumors are out there that the Z3 may be coming to Verizon and Sprint too. Guess we'll just have to wait for Sony's US event to find out.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

As I think about it it makes sense for them to do the 6 inch. The nexus is always based off a phone . Why make a phone built like the moto x to run stock when the x is basically 90% stock. They have to set them apart a little more

I'd rather have the Motorola Moto X (second generation) Pure Edition than a Moto X (2014) Google Play edition.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

This Is The Motorola Nexus 6: A 5.9" QHD Display, 3200mAh+ Battery, Dual Front-Facing Speakers, And More

There's also a curious new icon next to the dialer, presumably for the "messaging" app, though the messaging icon does not show up on press images of the Nexus 5 (the Nexus 5 actually doesn't have the messaging app exposed), making this icon's appearance somewhat curious.

Additionally, the status icons for battery, Wifi, and cell signal are all solid (without breaks like the current icons), suggesting they've been refreshed for the new release (which we can confirm will be 5.0, in case there was still any doubt).

We don't have an image of the back of the device to share, but we can confirm that the edge of the device will have the same aluminum frame as the new Moto X, and the back will carry the same sort of camera module (a 13MP shooter with OIS) with the new dual-flash ring configuration. Inside, the Nexus 6 will have a 3200+ mAh battery, and a QHD display at an ample 496ppi. The front-facing camera, by the way, will be 2MP.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

I feel like I am the only one, but the 5.9 screen size to me is great. I can't wait for this to drop. Would like to get more specs about memory size and if it will have wireless charging. And of course price....

WHY! My Moto X have no OIS. It would be nice to at least get OIS. Feeling a bit short changed.

So this will be the first Nexus with decent battery life and camera. I think it will be good for consumers, they'll be surprised by build the quality. I won't get it because the OnePlus didn't work out for me. 6" is just going to be Galaxy Mega territory.

Ah wait and see if this actually comes to Verizon as a Nexus or order a moto x
My conclusion is no Nexus on Verizon, that boat sailed long ago.

For me, the only thing that's confirmed, is that nobody knows what the heck is going on. The people at Google are sitting back and laughing at all the rumors. I don't believe that they would release a phone at 4.95", and make the next one at 5.9". Maybe it's like the iPhone 6 release, a phone at maybe 5.2", and a phablet at 5.9".:p
