Google Talk stays signed in

is there any way to keep g talk from running all the time
i have auto sign in turned off but every time i open the app i'm signed in already. i go to sign out and the app closes but when i open it i'm signed in

and the service is always running even if i kill the app in a task manager

anyone have any ideas?

I actually like this feature. It doesnt kill battery for me either. Some of my friends dont have unlimited text and use IM to chat with me.
