Google to sell Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $2.91 billion

Would you still buy a Moto X post Motorola/Lenovo Deal?

Re: Google to sell Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for around $3 billion.

Why does everyone think this is apocalyptic for Motorola? We still don't know anything yet.

Perhaps try tempering your expectations and causes for concern until you actually know what Lenovo plans to do with the company.

im curious on how many people are now thinking of returning their moto x they just bought during the sell
not me. It is the world's last smartphone assembled in the US :(

Re: Say Goodbye to Moto X sales!

When I bought mine in 2005 from IBM it was right before they were sold to Lenovo. The customer care was noticeably worse after the sale. Then they cheapened the device's casing and they weren't near as innovative with the features as IBM was.

The Yoga line seems to have some buzz.

It's not about Motorola it's about us as consumers. We really like the direction Motorola has done with the new handsets. People can say what they want but things will change with somebody else running the company.

But no one outside of Lenovo knows what Lenovo's plans for Motorola are yet.

Re: Keep or Return for Nexus 5: What's the future?

Amazing so many people already know Lenovo's plans for Motorola. :)

Look into my crystal ball. I can give you a sure bet on the Super Bowl, too ...

Re: Lenovo reportedly set to buy Motorola from Google for up to $3 billion

I wonder now... does this mean that Project Ara has been scrapped?

Projects like that rarely survive a buy out, as the buyer is interested in the core businesses. But you never know, maybe someone can sell them on the idea that it's leading to a viable product.

Re: Keep or Return for Nexus 5: What's the future?

My initial thought is that Lenovo is gunning big time for the US market, and probably even wants a chance to make a Nexus device. The Moto X and Moto G have been so well-received and well-reviewed that I don't think they're going to mess with them, and will likely keep the updates coming, because I bet they'll keep the current crew in place.

Boom.

I can only base my concerns on the utter train wreck it was to own just one Lenovo product!

Re: Keep or Return for Nexus 5: What's the future?

Oh, is Lenovo trying to buy Motorola? I think that Motorola has better ideals than Lenovo, but I know Lenovo can make some killer phones. If Lenovo can become strong in the U.S, then they'll have a bigger chance at getting big since they have already entered various other markets.

Re: Google to sell Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for around $3 billion.

You do realize that Lenovo has a manufacturing plant in the US, right?

Honestly I did not realize that. Also the Texas plant opened fairly recently and I hardly believe Lenovo would close that down that soon.

Don't really understand this. Google/Motorola just produced two of the best, well reviewed phones worldwide with the X and G and now this ?.
There must be a reason behind it, I just don't know what it is...what next...they buy a thermostat-maker for $3.2bn ?

We can make some pretty accurate assumptions though.
