Ok, but what I'm wondering is once you hit the mic button to activate Google Voice typing, is a voice typing feature of the phone's operating system draining the battery through Google Play services at all? Vs deactivating the Google Voice typing completely?I doubt it, since you have to hit the mic button to activate it.

Yeah that's true. It didn't really make sense to me either but it is something I have thought about regardless.I don't see why using voice typing would urge Play Services to do much of anything since voice typing doesn't depend upon a separate app. It's just an option of Google keyboard (or whichever keyboard you're using). And it works mighty darn well most of the time, far as I've seen.
