1. Do you mean seeing the keyboard options in the status bar? That's an Android feature.
2. Read up on how Android uses RAM. It likes to be full, it likes to have its RAM being used. 75% is pretty par for the course when it comes to Android smartphones (not just the S5).
3. Only a few countries actually have Android 5.0 for specific Galaxy S5 models. The U.S. release date hasn't been announced and even then it won't matter when Samsung actually gets it out. We will have to wait for the wireless carriers (i.e. T-Mobile, Sprint, the craptastic at&t, Verizon, etc.) to release it for their phones. They will do so in waves as well so someone in Columbus, OH might be able to download Android 5.0 for their Galaxy S5 while someone else in Santa Fe, NM will have to wait a few days or even weeks.
4. Emoticons are showing up on other phones for me and my fiance. These other phones are mixtures between Android 4.3 smartphones, 4.4 smartphones, and even iPhones. What texting app are you using?
