GS8 & GS8+ Midnight Black Otterbox Owners Unite

I posted above, but had to add this,

After a few days w the defender on my s8plus i haven't activated the bixby button by accident once!!!

Even w my speck case i would hit when i didn't mean too, but he defender makes the buttons just hard enough to keep accidental triggers from happening.

Just had to share that!

If they come out with one with a screen protector would you buy it? The S7 Edge one while allowed no dirt under it because it fit so tight, it was not very responsive and drove me crazy. I probably wouldn't buy it. I like it without the screen protector myself. It's Gorilla glass and I don't keep any change or keys in my right pocket so I'm not worried about scratching up the screen.

The clear Symmetry case looks neat but it's just too thin for me and doesn't have the lip the Defender has. Not really that heavy duty.

The I Blason Armorbox looks very similar to the Defender design as well. I kind of like the look of the Aqua Green Defender but I ain't spending another 50 plus bucks on another one.

Even the regular GS7 Defender screen protector did the same thing. Unless they did a better job from a fit and finish perspective. This being my third Galaxy device, I have gotten used to caring for it differently than in years past.

I also checked out the Defender and Armor Box, but finally decided on the Supcase Unicorn Beetle mostly because of Flossy Carter's review (and price). So we'll see, should be here tomorrow.

I wouldnt switch to one w a screen protector, just having a 34 dollar verizon protector works for how scratch prone gorilla glass 5 is, and it doesn't take away from how good the screen looks.

It's a good case. I got one for the S7 Edge. The quality and ruggedness isn't quit as strong as the Defender but still a good replacement. If the phone providers started selling these in the stores, they would make a killing against the expensive Otterboxes. The last year or so I see a lot of people using the Supcases instead of the Defender. As I said in the other thread if Amazon had the Supcase and Armorbox in stock when I pre ordered I would have picked one of each up instead of splurging on the Defender but Best Buy had the Defender almost 3 weeks before launch and if my phone came early I wanted good protection for it.

Alpha Glass and Otterbox Defender worked GREAT...I was at my Grandson's T-ball game and when I jumped off the bleachers (only about 5 feet) my phone accidentally fell face down on rough gravel ground ... the Alpha Glass got REALLY scratched up but the phone was fine (thankfully) ... I had to remove the Alpha Glass because it was REALLY scratched up but the case is as good as new ... regarding the "touch sensitivity", the Alpha Glass is not thin so I noticed I had to press a little harder near the edges but everywhere else was OK ; it came off easy ; it did not lift at corners when it was on ... I would definitely recommend it to anyone (it saved my phone for sure)

The Supcase is really good especially for the price, I had it for my s7 Edge. I don't use the holster daily but I do travel a lot and using the holster as a kickstand to watch videos comes in really handy which is one of the reasons I went with the Defender over the Supcase for the s8

Supcase Unicorn Beetle is dope! Now to find a tempered glass protector that will work with it... The holy Grail of the Galaxy S8 lol.

The beef I have with the Supcase is that there isn't a lot of give in it like the Defender or Commuter and the sides of the case are not as thick as the armorbox or Defender.

Supcase provides decent protection but for heavy duty protection I'd go with the Defender.

Flossy Carter gives good reviews but I take them as a grain of salt as he's a bit over the top. I like John Williams and especially EBPman. EBPman gives the best case and tech reviews I think and pretty in depth too.

Well coming from usually using just a thin clear case to the Supcase it feels like a LOT of protection. Besides, the price is right compared to the Otterbox.

I picked up a defender today for my s8plus. I love it so far.

I like that they didnt try to put the screen protector on it, because the curved screen creates problems.

I have the verizon screen protector and it works fine w the defender.

While this defender seems to be the slimmest, it still feels like the phone is well protected.

I love my speck presidio grip, but i wanted the defender to use at work since there is a bigger chance of damage.
Does Defender feel bulky?

Pelican has a lifetime warranty if it breaks.

The problem I have with the Pelican ones is that I've seen them break and chip when dropped onto a hard surface. Protects well but easily gets damaged on one simply drop unlike the Defender.

Not at all. Best Defender case ever maybe. I made a competition video review with it against the Pelican Voyager. Check it out here:

Very nice. Thank you.

I currently have a Symmetry case and Unicorn Beetle Supcase and I feel the Symmetry doesn't offer much protection for the added bulk whereas the Supcase feels better in the hand and feels more protective. I'm assuming the Defender is much like the Supcase.

I'd like to see a direct comparison between the Defender and Unicorn Beetle, but can't seem to find one.

The Defender is much more protective than the Supcase I think. I would compare the Supcase to the Commuter.
I would take the Supcase over the Symmetry. Much more protective. Symmetry is a waste of money for what you pay to get.

Good to know thank you. I may have to see about trying out a Defender sometime.
