It’s just weird that they would push a key feature to one variant of the Note8 but leaving the others.

I'm waiting on the V30 before I make my decision. I went from not liking the Note at all to it being one of my top choices.

I initially said I can't get the Note8 because I already have a working phone (Moto Z) that's not even a year old.

Well, guess what happened to it that made me switch?

Loving it so far, however. Finally, I'm back on a Galaxy Note.

First impressions?

This device seems snappier and more fluid than the S8+ I once tried. It's not the RAM nor the UFS controller as they're more-or-less identical to the S8+ minus extra RAM on the Note. Samsung may have done some further optimization, and that might also explain the battery life. I tax my phone quite heavily, and so far, I'm almost at the end of my first day and it's sitting at 33% after 16 hours of moderate use with 3.5h of SOT. Definitely better than the Moto.

Camera seems very capable, which is no surprise. This one has 2 ISOCELL sensors compared to the IMX260 on my Note7.

And well, this is the only phone I currently have that's perfectly legible in extreme direct sunlight.

I guess you purposely dropped your moto into the toilet bowl so you can get Note 8

My wife actually did that...by accident, dropped her Moto Z Force Droid in a toilet and it didn't survive at all. She has a Note8 now.
