Ok, thanks so much pville!!! I know I am going to be switching, a lot! That makes life so much easier. Glad you don't have to wipe, cause I find that the longest part.... and can you change the names of your backup, to lets say, CM7, so I know which is which?

#shoutout to flashing a nandroid but not remembering what the security pattern was.... #epicfail

LOL - Oops! Congrats on your name change. Next you can shoot for Ron Artest, I hear it will be available soon. ;)

Thanks...I had already planned to make the change to Ron_Artest once he made it available. LOL

As far as the security pattern goes...I had to unlock VIA my gmail account after 20 unsuccessful tries. Needless to say, I'm not using a security pattern anymore. LOL

Is there anyway to get the "TV-OUT" feature back? Or does anyone know how to get the apk for it? Im gunna guess its the same answer as the animated htc sense weather app.

TV Out works on Sense based ROM's, but not on AOSP ROM's. You could flash a Sense ROM if you really need it and nandroid back and forth.

Can the DInc be rooted with current 2.3.4 OTA non rooted phone (never has been rooted) ? I have searched and see 2 different answers. Is it possible to use UnRevoked to root a non rooted 2.3.4 OTA Dnc??

My wife's phone and she just now wants me to root it for her.

So I ran unrevoked and got the done messege. I Also have the super user app, but when i went to reinsert my sd the phone rebooted itself and the revooked tried to re-root my phone. Now it says "failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?" I just want to make sure that it is rooted or do I need to do anything else....please help

Did you get the Gingerbread update, or are you still on Froyo? I don't think that Unrevoked has updated for Gingerbread yet (unless something happened in the last few day's I missed).

If you have Superuser and you are S-OFF you should be good to go. Try downloading Titanium Backup from the market and see if it works. You know for sure one way or another.

Did the PB31IMG say it completed successfully? That is unusual.

Try downloading this one and be sure to check the MD5 because it does contain a radio image.

This link seems to have died. Anyone still have it?

No root love. :(

I am a total noob at this stuff, but I use to run Red Hat 6, long ago. Did DOS 2 or 3 in an earlier life. Star wheels up on the card punch.

So I finally need to root and ROM. But I am having problems with unrevoked3 recognizing my Dinc. I've set debug, taken out the SD Card and I'm on XP with admin access.

Used HTC Sync, but uninstalled it for the Root process. When trying to get unrevoked3 to recognize my Dinc, the PC re-loaded Sync again. I un-installed and disabled it in properties (hidden), backed up, pulled battery, and started again.

Still no joy. I have been at this over 8 hours and am starting to see things, so I?ll leave this and check back in the morning. Thanks.

Thank you Stig.
After removing HTC Sync, did you load the HBOOT Drivers?
Yes.:)

Also are you on Froyo (2.2) or Gingerbread (2.3)? Unrevoked will not work on Gingerbread yet.

I have 2.3.4 ! Opps! :-[ That is why I'm rooting, that update causes my apps to fail, My calendar & other apps R≠ Syncing ☹. Tried to root, no ❥. I may have to factory reset, bummer. Don't want to upgrade early :-$.

So, how can I root, since I have Gingerbread OS now? Guess I'll have to Google and read lots more, like I have nothing better to do.

For those of you trying to root your 2.3.4 and you don't have S-off

root 2.3.4,downgrade,and regain s-off

This takes you through downgrading to 2.2, and then going through the standard root/rom procedure. I'm making the disclaimer here that THIS IS NOT A NICE SIMPLE/AUTOMATED PROCEDURE. DO NOT DO IT IF YOU'RE UNFAMILIAR WITH COMMAND-LINE COMPUTING. However, if you're like me, and Gingerbread crapped your phone up royally, this is a great way to get full functionality back to your device. Worked for me, at least.

New user/forum reader. :p

I have the Incredible (since May 2010). How will we know when this works for 2.3? Plus, the baseband is 2.15.10.07.07.
Thanks.

sigh, should have rooted before 2.3.4... now GB is giving me hell with all the random reboots...
should I wait for a new version of unrevoked or try the 3.22 unrevoked downgrade s-off method my first time out rooting?
