Guide on data2ext!

Re: Help please data2ext.;)

im actually having trouble unmounting mmcblk0p2

Im using terminal emulator app and type su to get root access. Once I do that I type:
mount|egrep mmcblk0p2

and I get a message:
/dev/block/mmcbl0p2 on /sd-ext type ext3 (rw,noatime,nodiratime,errors=continue,barrier=1,data=writeback)

How do I get it to unmount?
edit: I tried "umount /sd-ext" without the quotation marks and it didnt work for me
Did you partition it? What rom/kernel? What steps have you completed already?

yes, i partitioned it using xionia clockwork recovery. Im on ath3nos CM7 & using xionia 014 kernel.

The steps that I did was fist partitioned the SD to 1GB with no swap.
Then I got stuck on the post above, I didnt know how to unmount because I got a message "unmount: not found"

unmount isn't a command. Try umount.

Re: Help please data2ext.;)

manny29, you should include in your instructions that anyone may use the ext4 option as well.

Also, "somewhere" is linked in my first post of the thread if you just want to point people there for the download. Good job.

Re: Help please data2ext.;)

I got it to work & I now have 1GB of internal space. Thank you everyone for all your help.

One is not really better than the other. Its just an option. Its the one I use. Supposedly its faster. Either way I wanted everyone to know that its an option. ;)

Re: Guide on data2ext!!!!!!!!!

I found this modified data2ext on the optimus v forums and it does work with Reborn 2.2.4 just create a partition in recovery, adb shell in recovery, follow instructions @ Data2ext CyanogenMOD - UPDATE 26/01/11 - xda-developers, i did the new user ext4 instructions, then flashed this modifed zip...boom 512MEG of internal storage when I booted up, no more messing up marketplace...

Nice.......

Besides. Of this I did a full wipe and then install the ath3nos cm7 rom and gapps I restarted system let it turn on then went back to recovery and went an did the partition install the data2ext2-v7.zip and reboot system. And went to terminal and type code "data2ext --enable" and it work no problem ...

ok how do I do this on the drew mod? I tried flashing the data2ext zips with xionia cwma v1.2518.6 but it is a no-go so far.

You have to disable the signing before you apply data2ext.zip

You also have to format a partition of your sdcard to ext4 first....
ok I am doing the format (yes I did a backup) but my question is how long does this take it is an 8gb class 4 it has been on the please wait screen for a while now
