Guide on data2ext!

I just tried ext2 on the latest stable version of Drew's CM7 and it seems to work great, but I'd like to try ext4 for greater stability. I'm currently using the xionia recovery which I understand does not support ext4. Which recovery do you guys recommend? Will one of these work? https://github.com/inferiorhumanorgans/android_device_lge_thunderc/wiki/IHO-Recovery
I use ext4 just fine with xionia recovery.

Don't worry about support. It will work. Just properly format and you will be fine. Use what you have.

Really? Will it also still nand backup/restore the sd-ext partition correctly?

I guess it doesn't hurt to try at this point.

Thanks!

Just keep the zip saved to phone or pc, when ever you flash new rom or update CM7 you will need to re-flash the data2ext zip and enable it.
I myself never used the ext2 version I went to the ext4 one.

Ext4 version 7 I believe. But there is a better solution at this point. Aaron couple of pages back. See if you can find it. I'm on my phone right now...

What version does everyone use the v4 or v7 with cm7

what version are you asking about?

I think what you are looking at is ext2data2-v7 and ext2data4-v4

ext2 is simpler/faster? ext4 is safer. the important part isn't' the version, its the type of ext partition you plan on using.

just to clarify,
ext2data (ext2) is ext2data2-v7
ext2data (ext4) is ext2data4-v4

That was the post. Its been edited and the file is no longer linked. Here's the right one: http://db.tt/u8I3UQu
NOTE: You still need the partition and to have it formatted properly. You wont see the partition in internal memory BUT you will notice after you have it running properly that even with 512 MB partition you can download everything in the market. Almost... everything .... ;)

Is that link (cm-app2sd-dalvik.zip) only for CM as its name would suggest or will it work with reborn?

AFAIK you can't use these with reborn although some have reported that they have worked. If you look at the xda thread page 42 I asked the dev for a copy that works with reborn. You can try that. :)

Does anyone know if darktremors dta2sd and dta2sdgui works on the optimus s

Edit.... I'm gonna say, no, seeing that it stuck me at the lg screen for about 20 minutes

on your computer you must type a command into adb shell. read the xda thread on data2ext if you need the format instructions. read it a little and you will see the format instructions. ;)

I read a little and found it, and got it done. I usually read alot before I ask but its my wifes phone and she wanted cm7 + a partition. The longer it took me to figure it out meant the longer she didn't have facebook. So I needed answers fast. I've been out of the optimus s forums for about 6 months, so Im a little rusty on it. Thanks for the help!
