ok i figured out what was wrong.


now im on 18. 18. Select Flash zip from the recovery menu and choose ?unrevoked-forever.zip?, after installation is complete, select Power Off.

i can't move nothing on my phone at the moment after i renamed the files.

it shows the evo and a red triangle sign on front and under it says

Build: Not Set
enabling usb-ms : .

USB-MS ebabled!
Press power to Disable.
and return to menu

17. Select enable USB-MS toggle using the volume keys and power button, this will open your sdcard up on your computer. Rename the file ?PC36IMG.zip? to ?PC36IMG-ENG.zip? then rename ?PC36IMG-MR.zip? to ?PC36IMG.zip? (you don?t need to enter the .zip part in windows because it?s hidden as a file extension). Disable USB-MS on your phone.

Select disable with the phone's power button.

ok when i get on step 20 type in adb reboot bootloader in the prompt it say device not detected even tho it is.

is there anyway i can go back to step 19

Ok, so you already did reboot bootloader?

If so, go ahead:

If you're on that screen it has already rebooted in to the bootloader.

You're not supposed to hit yes until it asks you to apply the update.

i told you i can't click that. those are my options right there

when i click fastboot then Bootloader and scans the files it takes me right back to the fastboot menu again

Pull the battery out, remove the USB cable, put the battery back in after 10 seconds.

Power on the phone by pressing the volume down button and power button at the same time.

When the phone boots up, it will pause to scan the file, when it asks to update, hit yes.

(I have to run home now, 90 minutes about so hopefully this goes through for you, if not someone else can def. help out).

im trying to get back to my nand backup. i believe this is the process i used
1. go to bootloader screen
2. select recovery/back up
3. i dont know if i do a factory reset here or not. clear cache
4. select nand
5. select reboot

thank for any advice or direction.

If that is your goal, using Unrevoked3 is a lot faster & simpler process that will give you root without touching any of your current data.

From what I've read revoked might cause problems when flashing roms and kernels down the line.

I just figured there was an updated method since the temproot method in the first post isn't working. I'm taking this one step at a time so I can troubleshoot any problems that might arise.

So no other temproot options for the EVO with latest firmware?

Yup, that should be fine. You may be able to reboot right in to recovery by just holding down the power button.

Unrevoked is really OK to use. Your approach is a good one and its smart to be cautious. I have rooted my g/fs phone and my brother's and they both were fine and able to fully flash. One to EViO and one to CM7.

hello all. please let me know if this post should be posted somewhere else other than here (newby). I have rooted my phone using the instructions and version above last friday and everything went through fine. once my phone rooted it is frequently freezing up and loosing network connection and have to reboot it. not able to use winamp or any internet radio as network connection is disconnecting every few seconds. has anyone had this issue and know how to resolve it please please. any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

that is what i did, but the command prompt wont find it. it says this is not recognized as an internal or external command, or operable program
