[GUIDE] Rooting 3.7/Hboot2.02+ w/screen shots (1/27/2011)

Ok, well I got up to step 10. Had to do the workaround of creating a folder for the nandroid on the sdcard. I'm thinking I'll stop here. Any problems if I just unplug and reboot? Will I have a working phone?

I want to try to see if it will work, but i'm afraid if I get to bootloader I'll be stuck too.

Okay i am now on step 6 and stuck :P

Do i need those files that i am pushing into the sd card?

Whew! Well, since I was stuck at the bootloader and had nothing to lose, I figured I'd reapply the pc36img.zip. When I did, I finally got to a "HTC Quietly Brilliant" splash screen, which turned out to boot into version 1.71 or something. Now I'm flashing my 3.26 RUU to get my phone back to where it was.

Well, this method clearly is not fool proof. Thanks to everyone who lent a hand tonight, but I'm going to have to reconsider my rooting method. I might get up the nerve to try this again, but since I'm not alone in the problems I saw tonight, I might let someone else be the guinea pig :)

I have my stock RUU saved, but I've forgotten how to flash it back.

same for me win 7 64

Yup; stuck at the bootloader.

If you're stuck and need to get back, power off your phone and charge it and then download this file: RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe from here: Index of /evo/stock/RUU/

After the file is downloaded, turn the phone back on and plug it in to your computer via USB, from the menu select fastboot usb then run the file on your computer, it may take a few attempts of running the EXE but that program will get your phone back to stock.

I am super curious about your issue though and am researching it now.

Okay so i was wondering do i need these files to push them into my sd card?

adb push root/unrevoked-forever.zip /sdcard/
adb push root/mtd-eng.img /sdcard/
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-ENG.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip
adb push pc36img/PC36IMG-MR.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG-MR.zip
adb push root/flash_image /data/local/

Like I said, I wasn't alone in the issues I had tonight, so that was weird. Basically, I got hung up when trying to create the folders for the 4g key image from the command prompt (got around that), and then again at the red triangle. Let us know what you find out, and I might try it again.

I'm going to try reading through the 100+ pages of the xda thread and see if someone had the same issues.

Thanks for the help. So my first rooting attempt was unsuccessful. Hopefully we can get this figured out.

I'm reading it now, someone else has had the same issue. (more than one) - What I do see is that someone didn't flash the initial PC36IMG.zip file before trying to push files in recovery. I'm still researching and will update as I get more info.
