Yes, steps 9 & 10 are to both backup your keys.

Good way to backup WiMax RSA keys. Works before Rooting, and on stock OEM Roms. - xda-developers

this link about backing up RSA keys is on XDA, would the line starting with busybox work? The first method is for unrooted phones, the second is for rooted.

Found the answer on page 305 of the original rooting thread on XDA (I started from the back thank goodness)

type the lines separately and not together;

first line

mkdir /sdcard/nandroid

second

mkdir /sdcard/nandroid/RSA-PR-BACKUP

Now i am at the Recovery part but i think my screen might be stuck at the "HTC EVO 4G" screen but im going to wait a bit before taking out the battery

So my phone went to the Recovery screen than went back to the Htc screen and than started up is that normal cause that was not apart of the instructions

I'm finished now too, what a relief. Thanks for this thread. I was going back and forth between this thread and this one [ROOT][GUIDE] HBoot 2.02/2.10 SOFF - There Will Be Root - Upd. 01.10.11 - xda-developers. The pictures helped, at least you are able to see you are on the right track.

So you followed the xda link to do the key backup and then just skipped those steps on this tutorial?

I'm trying again now. Just did another factory reset. I'm going to start with installing z4 and going from there. I backed up rsa keys, so I'm going to get su access and start. I never tried past that last night.
