[Guide] Tools and Information for Mac OS X Users - Updated 04/07

ok. Rebooted phone and then my files were back on the card. I installed the kernal and then I thought I was going crazy trying to figure out where this voice was coming from. The phone speaks. I now have:
Firmware version: 2.2.1
Baseband build: S:i500.04V.ea28
Kernal Version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: SCH-I500.EB01

This was the trick, the trouble getting installed just required a reboot
use the voodoo kernel from here
For Real this time: EB16 Kernels

is there anything else I need to do now?

Thank you for all the help!

Hi,

I've tried rooting my phone on my mac multiple times.
I did the command "gpt show /dev/disk2" to get the sd card to mount and then I tried the one-click root.
Every time I do it I get this error message
sh

error: device not found
Moving busybox
error: device not found
Changing permissions on su
error: device not found
Changing permissions on busybox
error: device not found
Installing superuser.apk

Rebooting device...

You can now close terminal.

Yes, is it not supposed to be?

no its suppose to be, i would try to restart the computer or something,, sorry i dont have a mac so connection problems are beyond me...

try to restart your computer and phone then

as stated in the directions:
Enable USB debugging and Stay awake under Settings > Applications > Development, leave the phone in the Development window

then start the root process over

Worked! Thanks a lot!!! Now to figure out what to do next.

try opening Terminal and type in gpt show /dev/disk1. I also found that rebooting the phone again would sometime regain the connection. I think one key was to be in screen to turn debugging on prior to plugging in usb cable. Make sure mass storage is off. I'm not the best to give advise but I just went through these obstacles and these things worked for using Imac

Trying to root and i open 1 click root, and terminal says "error: device not found". Debugging is checked, stay awake is checked, it is plugged in. I need help

So I'm rooted and i installed 1-click clockwork mod 2.1 to 2.2.
I'm confused as how to get froyo on using my mac, as I haven't seen anything on it.

im confused at your question,,, you said you went from 2.1 to 2.2 but then you ask how to get froyo on. ...........2.2 is froyo

Edit , never mind you just meant you used that package,,,ok so now you need to download the rom you want then push it to your SD card

Try superclean 2.9 http://www.mediafire.com/?ee5l6mkr3bkpdgt

Just by using the one click push to sd? I was figuring that but everywhere I read said I had to use odin and I know its not compatible with Mac. I rather ask before messing it up :)
