All of you may or may not know about my KP500 unbrick method, but this one will replace my unbrick and upgrade/downgrade/return to stock methods. Why? Because this is 100x more easier than KP500 and 10x more easier than LGNPST. These are somewhat the same directions is in the readme file that I included in the single download that contains everything you need.

This may not fully unbrick your phone in certain circumstances (neither will KP500). In such cases, please PM me.

DO NOT USE THIS TO RETURN TO ZV5 IF YOU ARE RUNNING ZVD/ZVJ FIRMWARE.

Download this: Unbrick OV KDZ.rar

Unbrick directions:
  1. Install Drivers (LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN37AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.7.2)>Reboot
  2. Install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi)
  3. Connect phone in emergency mode (Phone off> Volume Down + Back key + plug in USB)
  4. Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
  5. Select ZV5.kdz
  6. In "type", choose 3GQCT
  7. In Phonemode, choose EMERGENCY
  8. Click Launch software update
  9. Wait for the error to come up
  10. Press OK
  11. Unplug phone, pull battery, reindeer battery, press power button, reinsert usb cable.
  12. Click Launch software update
  13. This time it won't error, you will be unbricked.
  14. Enjoy :D

Upgrade/Downgrade/Return to stock directions:
  1. Install Drivers, Reboot
  2. Install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi)
  3. Connect phone in recovery mode (Phone off> Volume Down + Home key)(This will not work with certain recoveries, in that case you will need your MSL code here and then dial ##PORT# and enter MSL code (aka SPC code))
  4. Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
  5. Select ZV5.kdz
  6. In type, choose 3GQCT
  7. In Phonemode, choose DIAG
  8. Click Launch software update
  9. Enjoy :D

If you get a bootloop after any of these methods above, go into recovery, factory reset, reboot.

If you get a blackscreen while trying to access recovery and can't boot up, redo unbrick method. After that you will most likely still get a blackscreen recovery, but it boots. In that case, just flash another custom recovery. DO NOT FACTORY RESET from privacy menu. PM me if you need stock recovery on it.

Like my work?

But this i for Optimus V right? I want to root my phone, the model number is VM670, Version 2.2.2, HW version 1.2..

Is this the right place to root it?

This is in case you brick (screw up phone). Not to root.

Ok, My OV will not boot up, will not go into emergency mode, nor will it go into recovery mode. Every time i try to attempt to fix it, it goes to a complete blue screen. Is there anyway to unbrick it, without using emergency/recovery mode?? Thanks in advance!

Depending on what happened, recovery might not be possible.

This happened to me once; the solution turned out to be rather simple. I called Virgin Mobile Customer Service, they created an RMA, sent me a replacement, and I sent them the bricked phone. Problem solved!

However, before I called I tried everything to resurrect mine. I couldn't.

my optimus v goes into fastboot when i boot it im able to go to recovery will this fix my problem

Stock recovery or a custom recovery? If it's a custom recovery try flashing a rom if it's stock try the zv9 update.zip it sounds like your system partition got wiped.

Tapatalk'n it from my Cold As Ice VM670 running LS670ZVJ firmware

I have exactly the same problem. HELP PLEASE!!
I'm having an issue like G.Monroy.92

Steps 1-8: Okay
Step 9: Upgrade Error / WParam: 100 / LParam: 84
Step 10: Okay
Step 11: "reindeer battery" = "reinsert battery"?
Step 12: Okay

Then it ends up at:

Phone: CWM-based Recovery v4.0.1.5
KDZ_FW_UPD: Step : Phone Reset(DLL Cmd)

On phone I "wipe data/factory reset" and "reboot system now" and I get to:

Phone: CWM-based Recovery v4.0.1.5
KDZ_FW_UPD: Upgrade Error / WParam: 100 / LParam: 92

And phone keeps rebooting into recovery.

I have done the steps 10+ times both with and without the battery and either the above happens or it gets stuck on repeating "Step : Flash Burning(SDRAM to FLASH)".

I updated to VM670ZV9 without thinking about waiting for it to be road tested then rooted as per (http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...-security-update-now-rooted-thanks-jcase.html). I wanted to get rid of crumbs of things I installed/uninstalled and without thinking (once again) I did the Menu / Settings / Privacy / Factory Data Reset. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated, I can't afford a new phone and losing my grandfathered plan! Any other information you need?

Using lgnpst from e-mode you could probably get it unbricked but it's a long process to restore calling and sms and you'll never get data back

My phone is stuck at a flashing lg logo, both the screen and the four bottom buttons flash. I don't know if this is considered to be "bricked" but I thought I'd try this guide.

And I've done it at least a dozen times and I kept getting either
"Upgrade Error"
"WParam: 100"
"LParam: 89"
or it gets stuck and keeps repeating "Step Complete : Flash Burning(SDRAM to FLASH)" over and over.

I've also tried the older guide with the KP500 several times and I kept getting errors there too.

Any ideas?

My phone is rooted but I can't get into recovery, only emergency mode. This problem started after my phone randomly shut down in the middle of a text.

I don't know if you're a Virgin Mobile customer but if you are I'd say call customer service and demand a replacement phone. I currently have 4 various Optimus platforms and 3 of them are rooted and have had nothing but problems with them. 1 of them is rooted and I'm assuming bricked as It gets stuck on the LG splash boot loop and all four buttons flash with no boot-up. I have tried KDZ (as you see in my last post) to no avail. This was very frustrating but Virgin is an up and coming service provider that offers GREAT prices for its various annual and non annual packages with "newer" phones available. I'd say forget this forums advice because nobody really has the right answers for a truly bricked phone to call your provider up and ask for a replacement phone at no extra cost and do not take "no" for an answer. I did this and now have a brand new, out-of-the-box Optimus V and it works flawlessly(for now)!
Good Luck
