I'm looking to upgrade from my HTC One and I see that T-Mobile has a relatively good deal on a certified pre owned LG G3 on their site. Are there any risks? Will the phone come with cosmetic damage? Any response is appreciated.

Cosmetic damage it might have but that's it . I would think the screen would be in like new condition

I purchased two Nexus 4s. Visually, you couldn't tell they weren't new if it wasn't for the generic packaging.

Unfortunately, both phones had problems. The first (my son's) would go black as soon as a call connected - the proximity sensor was falsely reporting the phone was close to something. But it wasn't. I followed all sorts of recommendations on the web but in the end the phone had to be replaced under warranty (even though TMo charges a fee for warranty, which is screwy).

The other phone (my wife's) randomly shut off while plugged into her charger. Again, I followed all the recommendations I could find - no help.

In the meantime, my son decided he'd rather have a Samsung Avant and paid for it - so I gave his warranty replacement to my wife. This one won't keep any kind of time. It will be off by anywhere from 5 minutes to 7 hours without rhyme or reason. Again, I've followed all the recommendations I can on the web - no fix and now the warranty period is expired.

I purchased my Nexus 5 new. It has been flawless.

There's nothing scientific about my experience since it's limited to a single model of phone...but three out of three certified preowned phones had defects, so I'm just going to play it safe from now on. Brand new phone is on its way now for my wife.

I just purchased a certified pre-owned T-mobile white LG G3 and it's perfect. No marks, dents, scratches to be found. It's just like new.

I've purchased pre-owned from T-mobile a couple times... kind of a crapshoot. Both times I had to return for an exchange because of minor functionality issues/quirks. I went brand new on my third purchase (HTC One M7). Great phone, but I just accidentally short circuited it... my fault.): Anyway, recently decided to give certified pre-owned one more try (Sony Xperia Z1S)... third time's a charm, right? It's in the mail, so we shall see. I simply asked myself one question... "Do I feel lucky... well, do ya punk?" Dirty Harry reference there for the kids. I figured what they hell... it's a pretty safe gamble, since they do offer a 90 day warranty etc., etc..

hi i just purchased same phone from tmobile but its going to arrive in a couple of days my question is does it look like it was used a lot does it have any problems like performance wise thx

They are cosmetically new phones. Some are phones that people traded in when using JUMP or refurbished by Tmobile. I had one. Looked and worked great.

I went certified with my M8, M9, and Note 4. If they had sent me one of these and said it was new, I wouldn't have questioned it.

I never had a problem with any of them, except the Note 4. Even then, a simple phone call and they determined it was a hardware issue not caused by external damage, and they overnight a replacement since it was still under warranty (which you get as if you got a new phone anyways, so no reason to not save a few $$ by going "used".

Do they offer an extended warranty plan? One issue people don't usually look at is that charge port. If the previous user used it a lot when it was plugged in and charging the port will have a lot of wear on it. I do that and every smartphone I have had saw the port fail in time. Expensive to fix.
In any case at least you dont have to worry about the IMEI blacklist scam going around ebay now. See the thread I started on that, I would not buy a t mobile phone used from anyone but t mobile. Anything not in a factory sealed box, forget it. And that means "new, unlocked" because the seller has to open tbe box to unlock it. More than likely its a phone bought on contract with a stolen identity and 2-3 months after you buy it t mobile will brick it when the contract defaults and there is nothing you can do about it.

90 days unless you put insurance on it.

Don't do it!!! Get an iphone!! Every Android my son and I had has been worth nothing. Brand new after a few months had constant issues. Kept sending them back. Same thing. Internet doesn't work right. Not receiving calls. Texts not being received. Got a preowned note 3 on someone's advice. Loved it til it stopped working at 3 weeks!!! Wouldn't even charge. U have only 2 weeks to return it so I was screwed. Fought with them for 3 months. Had 3 phones in 3 mnths til finally a rep helped me. I'm getting an iphone. Never again!!!

Wow your one unlucky guy. careful crossing the street.

I have had 4 android phones and the only one that gave me a problem was my Nexus 4 which I took swimming with me.
