Has anyone that went from version 0002 to 0003 really noticed a big difference?

I am getting both of my Evos replaced, mine because it has the lifting screen, and one because it bricked due to update.

So I have been reading that the new revision of the Evo is getting a screen made by Epson which is supposedly inferior in some way shape or form to the one that was used in version 0002. Is that true? I saw this one video where the guy tried to show the difference between the two of them, but the only difference I saw was that the fade effect when choosing between different levels of brightness is gone.

Has anyone seen both for a direct comparison?

I thought the 0002 screen was the one that couldnt handle over 30fps so they all got locked?

I went from 002 to 0003 and havnt noticed any screen difference (other than my 0003 is firmly in place under the bezel and doesnt move when pressed).

VERY happy with my 0003 replacement.

The 30fps cap is a software limit, not a hardware limitation, I thought?

with both the epson and novatec screens there is now a way around the the 30 fps cap with a kernal all though with both its still unstable until HTC releases the source code.

It's not a hardware issue. There has already been a hack that took out the cap. I believe it ran at 54fps or somethin. Do a search and you'll find it.

i swapped out my 002 or a 003 and it is definitely different. the battery cover on the back is different, it fits much better. the screen is perfectly sealed all the way around. 0 light leakage at the bottom. i did notice that the screen is maybe a tab bit less bright than the 002 but it is still gorgeous screen.

i am definitely happy with my new 003.

I'm still waiting for my replacement. I have a defect in the screen and have been on a list for about 3 weeks now.

Well I am glad to hear all the positive responses about the replacement phones. I have been on the list since a week and a half,...well it will be 2 weeks on thursday, so now I am definitely looking forward to getting the new version.

I noticed the opposite of what the video suggested, I have the 003 hardware and my screen is brighter than my coworkers and had brighter whites. His 002 has a pink tint to it and looks more washed out.

I had a revision 0002 phone originally. It had a speaker that crackled when it got loud and a touch screen with the grounding problem. I got a replacement because of the speaker and received the 0003. It doesn't have any problems: lifting screen, grounding issues, speaker trouble, light leakage. I will say, I never noticed any light leakage on my first one or this one when used normally, but I do see the light on both when viewing it at an extreme angle.

my wife has 002 and i lost my phone and got a 003 as a replacement and im going to get that replaced when they get some new evos in stock because the colors are faded in the 003 compared to the 002 and speakers and sound quality are not that high as 002

the 54fps hack only works with 003 version of the EVO and with the EPSON screen... Novatec's are SOL
