I used to have a grudging respect for Steve Jobs and Apple simply for the fact that their products gave others the impetus to innovate and make what I think is a superior product and ecosystem,Android.Jobs and Apple always kinda creeped me out with that cult of personality thing they got going. The Apple corporate philosophy of you will use our devices as we intend for you to do,there is no other way strikes me as Orwellian in nature. Not for this dog.Hell, I'll get a Windows phone before I would bring that i-crap in my home.My outlook in life has always been to get along with everyone and respect their choices.I have no use for the I-Phone but if that is what makes you happy, then go for it.But leave me my choice to use what I want to use and don't imply that I'm a inbred simpleton for making that choice.Screw you Steve Jobs and screw you Apple. What ever deep dark abyss you may now inhabit Mr. Jobs,I hope you'll happy now that you turned this Android fanboy into one raving freaked out puppy!!!! I WANT MY EVO  AAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!:(:(:(

I don't hate Apple, but then, it seemed like you are not a free man when you use any of their products. :(

Please see "google buys motorola"

and tell me they didn't do it for the patents?

Google did't create Android. They acquired the company that did. They nurtured and encouraged the open source approach.Of course they purchased Moto for the patents. But they'll not using them to bludgeon other companies into submission. They saw what the Apple was doing and needed some ammo for self defense.A lot of tech firms are doing this now.Buying other companies to get patents to defend themselves.Apple has turned into the Evil Empire.Where's Luke Skywalker when you need him? :-!

I so hate Apple and OP is right, they havent created any "new" technology...they watched other people create it on their phones and then they patented it...scum!!

Yes Microsoft basically had the ITC do that for them just as Apple did to HTC.

Now this one is soley Motorola. They stopped paying the licensing fee they agreed to a year ago. This isn't a new patent dispute.
Do I think Microsoft should have the patent, no. Should they be profiting from kther companies who are actually producing quality handsets, no. But Motorola is the sole problem here.

Assuming that all the units of a particular phone are released once they’ve cleared inspection, it’ll still take several days at the very least for stocks to be replenished. For those of you waiting patiently for the EVO 4G LTE, I’d say that the end of the week is the very earliest that we might see a belated launch. And since there’s no indication of which phones are being released in what order, it may be quite a while yet. Anyone who’s sick of megacorporations making their purchasing decisions for them (or reading patent stories) can send their complaints to tcook@apple.com.

I never liked apple. Raised on windows. And came to Android from a palm pre. OG Evo and never looked back. This little move by apple didn't surprise me, I mean its business, so can't say it really changed my opinion about them. I do kinda hate em a lil more though... In the big scheme of things it's kind of scary that apple has to resort to these kinds of tactics. I mean just design a better phone!

So it's Apple's fault for patenting things others decided not to patent?

I hate to say this, but Apple is playing the game that they are allowed to play. If you really want to know how to blame look at the USPTO. They decided to give these patents to Apple and they are just doing what they are allowed to. So as much as I want my new EVO, I'm really not blaming Apple on this. HTC would do the same to Apple if they had the chance, and we would be laughing about it if they did. But since it is the other way around, well thats a different story...

My wife has an Apple product, I've never bought an Apple product and I won't with what they're doing - especially with this added to the fire:

How Apple and Microsoft Armed 4,000 Patent Warheads | Wired Enterprise | Wired.com
When the Rockstar Bidco group purchased Nortel?s patents, the U.S. Department of Justice took a look at the deal, as part of a broader investigation into several large technology patent sales. The DoJ was concerned that patent attacks might somehow be used to knock Rockstar?s competitors out of the smartphone or tablet market. But in February, the DoJ closed its investigation, in part because Microsoft and Apple had promised to license many of their core wireless patents under reasonable terms to anyone who needed them.

But the new company ? Rockstar Consortium ? isn?t bound by the promises that its member companies made, according to Veschi. ?We are separate,? he says. ?That does not apply to us.?

They're actively abusing the system.

well their isn't an option for "My Opinion Hasn't Changed, I've Always Hated The iPhone, But I Love My iMac." but that's my choice.

The last time I used an Apple computer was in high school about 10 years ago and I've never owned an Apple product. Due to my lack of experience with them, I never really had an opinion until I started following smartphone tech. As I've watched WebOS and Android develop over the last few years (and WebOS pretty much get put to death), I've formed a strong opinion against Apple. Their corporate mindset and business practices disgust me, and as such I can't offer my support to them. In the context of this poll, my opinion of Apple has not changed. I've never purchased one of their products, and I never will.

Apple owners are like a sheltered and abused spouse that can't believe how great life could be if they actually could get away from what is abusing them and holding them back with ultimate control.

But they are safer and more secure...

Apple shouldn't be allowed to patent something they didn't invent.

Hell, they shouldn't be allowed to patent software, functions, or any snippets of code at all. Software should be copyrighted, and gestures/functions/etc shouldn't be patented. That's ludicrous. Reverse engineering used to be an acceptable practice.

The system needs to be fixed. I don't fault Apple, or any other company, for taking advantage of a broken system.

I fault apple even if they are merely playing by the rules of a broken system. They make the world a worse place for all their potential to make it a better one. Some of their choices might be good from a business sense but still quite evil when viewed in terms of how it effects everyone else.

The only way I can see someone supporting Apple is their shareholders. As a consumer, I don't see how anybody in their right mind can support them. They brainwash the sheep with slick marketing. So they run out and overpay for a product that's short on features. A lot of people fall for slick market and high MSRP. Apple, Bose, and Dyson are making a killing off of this type of marketing. Neither of the brands I just mentioned make a superior product. Millions of people swear that they are the best though.

Because iPhones are so much more expensive than all other smartphones.
